equivilating

I think the word you’re looking for is “equating.”

“Equivilating” is not a word.

“Equivocating” is, but it means to deceive without lying by creatively telling the truth, to seem you’re saying one thing while really saying something else. This is an art form if you play a lawful good face character and your DM says you aren’t allowed to lie.

The word “xylophone” comes from the Ancient Greek ξύλον (xúlon) meaning “wood” and φωνή (phōnḗ) meaning “sound” or “voice.”

So this instrument with metal bars that you hit with a hammer to produce sound is called a…?

That’s right! A “glockenspiel!”

(I stole this from someone else on the internet.)

GIFs are huge files for the information they contain. MP4 or WebP are good options, but I don’t know if Lemmy supports them the way they do GIFs.

I truly wish McLaren weren't complete morons in going about this season.

Well good news then. Because they aren’t.

No one expected Norris to do this well this season. No one expected McLaren to be favored to win the WCC. McLaren is exceeding expectations. That’s not the behavior of complete morons.

Sticking to your team ethos of not having a #1 driver and potentially missing out on a WDC no one thought you were going to get anyway isn’t being complete morons.

Edit: That said, I would very much like to see the team form up behind Lando for the rest of the season simply because of where we are.

I get that they weren't technically movie stars but it would be so cool to see the real James Hunt and Niki Lauda playing themselves in Rush

I watched that movie before I was really into F1. Daniel Brühl did such a good job as Lauda that the first time I saw Lauda in an interview I was shocked. And Chris Hemsworth did so good as James Hunt that when listening to a recording of Hunt commenting I knew it was Hunt without having to be told.

Those actors did a PHENOMENAL job in that movie. And damn is it a good movie.

Remember how bad it looked?

Technology improves. It won’t always look that bad.

Remember how disrespectful it was?

As I recall his family was on board with the choice. It didn’t seem disrespectful to me, I was excited to see the character Tarkin show up when I hadn’t expected him to.

Maybe we shouldn't do it again.

Ah yes, as the old adage says, “If at first you don’t succeed, never try again.”

DO YOU LIKE MY ROSES? I DON’T THINK ANYONE ELSE MAKES THEM AS BLACK AS I DO.

backlit Kindles

As I understand it, Kindles aren’t backlit but rather frontlit (or sidelit) with a layer designed to diffuse the light across the page evenly. The claim is that the lack of direct lighting helps in the fight against eye strain as well.

Fallout was the last great game manual.

Nah man. MechCommander came in 1998 and that game manual was a friggin book, with full color pictures of each mech.

Star Wars Rebellion’s manual was also a book. Amazingly detailed.

Morrowind’s wasn’t a book, but it was still pretty great. Gave enough information that I was able to make a TI calculator program to generate accurate stats based on character creation choices.

Not saying there aren’t others, but these are great examples that came after Fallout. And maybe they aren’t at the same level as Fallout, but still great.

This is ostensibly the new logo and name for AlphaTauri. Kinda wish they’d just go back to Toro Rosso. Or Minardi.
