Fun detail about this hype about 'innovation' (there was not just a poster but also an email) aircraft carriers use physical chits and a table for their planning. (Bonus, cant be hacked or emped). So gonna be fun to see if he will try to get rid of that and we might see a carrier sunk in the venezuelan/taiwan wars.

Btw, he isnt the creator, he is just the fourth engineer they hired. He is much more a content creator (and game patent asshole) than the creator: https://roblox.fandom.com/wiki/Community:Shedletsky

E: he also created this "A Bridge Too Far is a game that was created on September 21, 2007. The objective of the game is to blow up the bridge." Which as a Dutch guy just makes a lot of alarm bells go off. (In market garden the bridges needed to be taken intact). Im not saying he is a crypto neonazi btw, it is just a dumb bad name.

The tweet before that:

Let me tell you something about Akash. During a project at Berkeley, I accidentally deleted our entire codebase 2 days before the deadline. I panicked. Akash just stared at the screen, shrugged, and rewrote everything from scratch in one night—better than before.

This says more about you, the scale of the project, bad organisation of your group, and the lack of challenge of Berkeley (nice namedrop though) group projects, and the failure of understanding the excersize (the goal is to learn how to work as a group and notice the networking problems), and the goals of being at a university (networking, partying and learning) than anything else.

Hell I know of a project that also did this and they didnt manage to rewrite the project, as it actually took a lot of time.

Just the opening alone, doesn't know what to do with his life, but mentions 'NPC coworkers' (that is also so fucking weird, I don't think I have worked with much people who gave off an NPC vibe off at all, like people always seemed like people with lives and hobbies, social lives, families interests, stuff they cared about, etc.

It started to dawn on me that what I actually wanted was to look like Elon, and that is incredibly cringe. It hurts to even type this out.

My reactions to this 'ow come on, you call others NPCs?!' and 'at least he knows it is cringe'

When I got back home and regaled my friends with my mountain stories, one of my friends joked that I should work for Elon and Vivek at DOGE and help America get off its current crash to defaulting on its own debt. So I reached out to some people and got in.

This has got to be a parody.

So now I’m in Hawaii. I’m learning physics.

Ha, I recently watched, this video billionaires want you to know they could have done physics by actual Theoretical Physicist, Angela Collier. I'm quite sure he will not be getting an actual degree in physics.

I don't have the energy to read the orange site comments.

'i am a stochastic parrot and so are u'

reminds me of

"In his desperation to have produced reality through computation, he denigrates actual reality by equating it to computation"

(from this review/analysis of the devs series). A pattern annoying common among the LLM AI fans.

E: Wow, I did not like the reactionary great man theory spin this article took there. Don't think replacing the Altmans with Yarvins would be a big solution there. (At least that is how the NRx people would read this article). Quite a lot of the 'we need more well read renaissance men' people turned into hardcore trump supporters (and racists, and sexists and...). (Note this edit is after I already got 45 upvotes).

I have joked before how people really into stoicism tend to be quite emotional and even a risky, as stoicism always seems to be aspirational and doesnt describe the stoic fans behaviour (a good example is the yter Sargon), but this might be a bit of an extreme example.

BRING IT ON NITPICKY NUKE NERDS

Well acthtually we prefer to be called fission/fusion nerds

"greenwashing is cheaper than action" indeed. (edit2) On that note, storytime about the clownshow that is Dutch politics. So our radical right wing government is pro nuclear power, of course, and they want to build more powerplants. So what are they planning on doing? They are going to start a study on which locations are best. Which is maddening, as these studies have already been done before (so it prob is just an attempt to hopefully have the study finish when it isn't them in power anymore so they are not at risk of starting an too expensive megaproject). But it gets worse, the absolute clowns of our farmers party just went 'fuck the studies' and they just pointed at a province where there are a lot of farmers and went 'we will put a powerplant there'. And this is how they discovered nuclear powerplants need running water and they picked one of the areas without a major river. ('im ignoring the clownshow re 'the immigration crisis' (not a crisis) as this post is already too long, and there is a big risk of honk overdose if I go into that).

The link to the article here clearly says 'Whisker Squadron: Survivor' to me. But here, a steam link.

JAQing

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Just_asking_questions first hit (on google ;) ) which has a good explanation.

E: And I don't meant this post as a 'just fucking google it' or 'educate yourself' (well a little bit) but more to show there is more to this accusation of JAQing than just some way to shut you down. The method is used by bad faith actors a lot, so it is a pattern of behavior a lot of people react negatively too. So, assuming you are acting in good faith, it is a good way to learn why people are reacting to you like you are a bit of an bad faith actor. And if you are a bad faith actor, I only wasted a little bit of my time typing this out so nothing really lost.

'nerds taking over the world' no it was finance with techbros taking over the world. If nerds had taken over there would be a lot more open source and we wouldn't all be familiar with the word 'enshitiffication'.

One of the most famous techbros wants people to print out code and has trouble running a python script.

E: that these fucks can play with their venture capital shit while Real Tech Nerds(tm, do not steal!) like Foone have to ask for donations is pretty terrible. (Foone is a fun account to follow if you like somebody who takes old hardware and stuff apart in fun ways).

E: related skeet "1980s techies: Imagine a World Wide Web where all human knowledge can be shared and accessed by everyone. 2020s techbros: We will steal every word you’ve ever shared, every artwork you’ve ever displayed, lock them away in datasets without your permission, then sell them all back to you, but shite."
