He's basically a Klingon weeb. He learned to Klingon from operas, and has an idealized understanding of honour that is completely out of touch with reality.

I don't think the speed of the electrical impulse would change, but yes reaction time would. Perception is more about our brain processing signals than it is about the signals themselves. What you experience yourself as seeing is not the raw image going into your eyes. Slower processing means you're also less likely to see, as in be aware of, details.

This is why tired driving is incredibly dangerous.

There's a theory that dreams serve as a sort of simulation mechanism for our brain to think through how to respond to various potential situations. It argues that is why natural disaster nightmares are so prevalent, and why our dreams are so weird (monkey brain does not understand modern society).

Anyways, good for them, I'm glad their brain figured out what to do about hypothetical McWeird.

Is there any way to see which instances a given instances is defederated from? Ideal would be something like a sortable list of instances with a federated yes/no.

I'm curious about what Lemmy is like in other instances and that seems like a good way to get an overview. Plus it would be helpful to know that corners of the fediverse I'm missing

Plain, readable urls rather than using shortening services is a step in the right direction, but it won't stop lookalike phishing.

Trump is shit, and he's spewing shit, but that doesn't make this a shitpost.

Mullvad is great if privacy is your only metric, but it's not unique in that respect and no port forwarding is a serious limitation in this context. I've been looking into alternatives and AirVPN and OVPN both look reputable.

Humans do indeed contain multitudes, but I think this gives too much credit to the influence of corporate (and their political interference) interests. Enshittification is an active choice made in board rooms. Disinformation is an agenda. They're not inevitable grassroots outgrowths.

Lemmy, curated to avoid AI, curtail corporate news, and where the admins and community are fighting bots and trolls is an example of the reclamation attempt.

And you know what? It's kinda nice here.

Tldr: capitalist efficiency

There is a neat piece about the OS side; worth reading.

Deep Rock Galactic and Helldivers 2 are the ones I play. Usually at 2 players.

Primaries level up from use, unlocking customization options in different slots. Slot availability varies by gun. It looks like all weapons have skins (great for the fashion game). The slots I've found so far include:

sights (different sights to taste, or trade off zoom <> ergonomics)

muzzle (recoil patterns mostly)

grip (recoil <> ergonomics/laser/flashlight)

magazine (capacity <> ergonomics/reload speed)

Looks fun! I kinda wish we could slot a bayonet but I can see why they would keep that exclusive

They're just trying to teach their human to hunt. First step is to demonstrate that the mouse is food. Diva is clearly just getting frustrated with how slow a learner the human is.

These resources are really all you need, but they're all individually quite focused so for a new person it can be hard to see the forest.

An overview:

For movies, streaming sites are fine.

To start torrenting safely:

  • get a paid vpn (i use mullvad)
  • download qbittorrent or the like
  • find a public tracker from the megathead, general ones are easy/convenient for starting imo
  • virus scan/use common sense/be careful
