This is why opensource developers get burnt out. If you don't like it, fork it. Stop shoehorning what you want on other people's project, especially for petty things like this.

  • Significant battery life improvements

  • Granular Internet Acess Control (Give users option to prohibit apps from connecting to data or Wi-Fi)

  • Something native like KDE Connect or Your Phone from Microsoft

  • Something like Samsung Dex

  • Unlimited Paypal money generator

There are so many things Google could do.

Before that, it was hangouts and regular people didn’t know about it.

This is their biggest problem, They themselves fragment their user base. We were on hangouts, you could even get your google voice calls on it, we didnt' switch to allo or duo, till they announced they were retiring hangouts. And now all three are gone.

We stay away from Google now.

it seems ridiculous to prosecute the particular crime of posession

what does this even mean? you mean with people hoarding CSAM shouldn't be charged because they're not distributing it?

Do people think there would be some dramatic explosion of CSAM?

Yes, this is not your local backwater town where you know there are a few visibly shitty & disgusting people and people tell their kids to stay away and everyone becomes safe. And if you think shit doesn't explode on the internet, you might be living under a rock last 2 decades.

That's stupid on a whole new level and your made up scenario doesn't make it any better. No one is threatened for having been sent some questionable content. The person who sent those however might be and the tech today makes it incredibly easy to prove where anything came from since everyone is being tracked.

Seize all funds received for distributing it, throw anyone involved in producing it in prison and throw away the key,

How about we prevent such things from happening by discouraging it in the firat place? Sure, they won't be down to 0, but your solution starting after the distribution has already started is highly disturbing.

Not a smart watch, but a Mi Band fitness tracker.

Pros:

  • works well enough
  • Private
  • data visualizations are great
  • Advanced sleep tracking
  • Lots of customization features

Cons:

  • needs 3rd party app to sync weather
  • Doesn't exit cleanly
  • Calendar sync has never worked for me (even though I gave it necessary permissions )

CloudNordic said: “The attackers succeeded in encrypting all servers’ disks, as well as on the primary and secondary backup system, whereby all machines crashed and we lost access to all data

They did. They were affected too, if you read the article.

Is it possible that they offloaded the scraping to a different company to avoid direct litigation now theyre out in the open? To say "we didn't scrape your website, and you can't prove it."

Like DDG, Ecosia, Qwant use Bing for their data Or how feds buy data from data brokers. Outsource the dirty job like every tech company does and shift the blame if caught doing something unlawful.

It seems they are trying to garner some positive PR after they scraped through everything without anyone noticing.

"It's all good until we decide to change the entire interface of the OS every few iteration, abandon apps you love to use, introduce you to multitude of messaging apps (any of which you can't be sure to last), so you need to learn everything over and over again.

And have you heard about our new AI assistant, that's better than our old AI assistant that we're purposefully making dumber by the moment?"

It’s all good with Google on Android because we ~~need~~ want your data.

anyone care to explain what we're looking at here?

As a Firefox Desktop/Android user this sure sounds awesome.

This is not the official instance, is it? I heard the developers were going to scrape reddit if they needed to.

The random posts/threads, active users sections seem like an unnecessary bloat, especially on mobile. Complete user details and magazine details shouldn't be listed on every post. An option to turn these off would be nice.
