Yes, ironfox is good too (i forgot to mention it) but on grapheneos you will want to end up using their browser

Avoid Gecko-based browsers like Firefox as they're currently much more vulnerable to exploitation and inherently add a huge amount of attack surface. Gecko doesn't have a WebView implementation (GeckoView is not a WebView implementation), so it has to be used alongside the Chromium-based WebView rather than instead of Chromium, which means having the remote attack surface of two separate browser engines instead of only one. Firefox / Gecko also bypass or cripple a fair bit of the upstream and GrapheneOS hardening work for apps. Worst of all, Firefox does not have internal sandboxing on Android. This is despite the fact that Chromium semantic sandbox layer on Android is implemented via the OS isolatedProcess feature, which is a very easy to use boolean property for app service processes to provide strong isolation with only the ability to communicate with the app running them via the standard service API. Even in the desktop version, Firefox's sandbox is still substantially weaker (especially on Linux) and lacks full support for isolating sites from each other rather than only containing content as a whole. The sandbox has been gradually improving on the desktop but it isn't happening for their Android browser yet.

Also, having exodus integration in app downloader is good but not worth it for exchange of no signature verification, so it's better to just check it in browser instead or use their app to check trackers

On grapheneos you should be using vanadium since its most secure browser on phone. On other android devices, use brave instead. Also if family and friends dont want to use signal but want to use whatsapp then uninstall whatsapp, one way or another they would have to either end up using sms or other form of contact

Some apps that you use are not safe. Aurora store doesnt send too much data to google but it doesnt verify app signatures which can lead to installing malicious apps, use normal play store instead which verifies app signatures (its also suggested to use by grapheneos devs). Whatsapp, collects data about you. Cromite, uses adblock plus which is really bad. Also here is another reason why cromite is bad:

“Cromite has very problematic changes included which substantially reduce privacy and security. It reduces security more than it improves it. For example, it includes the highly problematic Eyeo filtering engine from the company behind Acceptable Ads, Adblock Plus, etc. which took over the forked uBlock extension misleading people with the name pretending to be the uBlock Origin project among other extensions. Eyeo’s C++ code is low quality and has memory corruption issues… Cromite including the incredibly sketchy Eyeo content filtering engine and stuff like additional codecs goes against what we’re trying to achieve. We also don’t think the randomization-based anti-fingerprinting approach works, among other issues”.

Hey, I’ve had GrapheneOS installed for some time, but after a while, issues started popping up. com.android.systemui kept crashing, and I’d get a message saying it had stopped working. The only option was to force close com.android.systemui. I could also dismiss the notification, but that didn’t help because the message would just come back after a while. After closing it, the problem would return. So, I asked for help on the official GrapheneOS general chat... and got nothing. That’s why I decided to install stock Android (the factory version that comes with the device). It’s nice because it has a lot of cool features, like automatic Wi-Fi hotspot. But there’s also a lot of bloatware, and it drains the battery quickly.

So, I decided to make a pros and cons table for both stock Android and GrapheneOS, and I thought I’d share it here in case someone needs help deciding.

GrapheneOS Stock Android
Pros: Pros:
No bloatware (due to minimal installation) Automatic Wi-Fi hotspot
Longer battery life Google Wallet works
Can charge the phone from any charging port (even in public places) Technical support available
Sandboxing all apps Automatic app installation from Play Store
Better backup options (can save to network drive or USB) Easy remote lock and wipe
Native file explorer is visible (unlike stock Android, where the icon is hidden) Adaptive vibrations and sound
Faster updates than stock Android All apps work
No need for antivirus (patches are general, not for specific viruses)
Easier backup process (just select location and data, the rest is automatic)
No VPN leaks
Random PIN digits (harder to guess or see)
Can add an extra PIN with fingerprint (additional security)
Google services are optional
Default GrapheneOS apps respect privacy (e.g., camera removes metadata, PDF viewer runs in a sandbox)
Still Android-based
Google won’t block APK installations (GrapheneOS is based on AOSP)
Cons: Cons:
Cannot automatically install apps from Play Store Shorter battery life
No Google Wallet contactless payments Lots of spyware from Google
No automatic Wi-Fi hotspot (unless there’s a way I haven’t discovered yet) Lots of bloatware
Rare technical support on official GrapheneOS chats Hard to access native file explorer (icon is hidden)
At some airports, devices with GrapheneOS may be automatically flagged for inspection if someone notices a Google Pixel with GrapheneOS Automatic backup only covers photos and some data, and only to Google Cloud
Not all apps are supported VPN leaks
Phone is more vulnerable to attacks (due to bloatware)

Orginal one is in polish and on Buy European matrix chat i was asked to post it here

So, I want to switch to pixel and I read that if I would install custom os on it, it would not void guarantee. Is that true?

And if you delete onedrive with stuff in it, you lose access to saved files so windows can’t be considered os

So, I found some Firefox forks. Those would be: floorp, zen browser, tor browser and librewolf. Could anyone help me decide which one to use?

I own Avtek CreoCube 3D but producer decided to delete all files and programs for it. This currently makes printer unusable since I can't connect it to any outside program. I tries octoslicer but it didn't detect printer. Does anyone know what to do? Maybe I should tear down printer and mod it so it would be using my own microcontroller instead?

Hey, recently I bought myself license for CrossOver since trial version satisfied me and here are my thoughts about it. Software itself is really easy to use and install programs from CrossOver. Staff is really helpful, when I wanted to use logo of CrossOver for article, they gave me permission to use it without any problem, even on discord they help a lot. Community is also great, I really felt warm when joining their discord. And the best part of buying license? It supports directly developers of wine (it translated calls to windows api so they could work on Mac api and Linux api). I also haven’t run into any issues yet when playing games through CrossOver.

You can’t really disable rgb but you can set brightness with openrgb to 0. Also you could try to disable igpu in bios

I used postmarket os in past and I can recommend it… it has terminal for people who want to tinker with it but it can be used without terminal. Os is very easy to use and supports many devices, their support channels are hosted on matrix

Hey, I will move soon to macOS as my main os. I am currently using Linux as my main os and from what I know, macOS is similar to Linux. I also wanted to ask some questions beforehand: There are few cli package managers for macOS but which one is the best? Will it be hard for me to use macOS if I am using currently Linux? Which keys on mac keyboard work same as keys on windows keyboard?

Hey, I have a pc that I would like to install light Linux distribution on but I don’t want to do it because my computer has weak parts but because I want to save up on space and make pc focus so it could stream games that would be installed on it and then I could simply stream games from it instead of downloading them on different devices. Would anyone have any recommendations for said distro?
