Lemmy.world pre emptively defederated them before hexbear federated with wider lemmy because hexbear's a very active community of communists who've been on an undefederated fork of Lemmy for three years or so.

Hexbear users are very active in calling out anything they perceive as reactionary thought (transphobia, racism, ableism, homophobia, support for imperialism, colonialist apologia, etcetera) and pretty frequently get hostile about it, one of the stated intentions of them federating was to bully bigots into silence in order to make all of lemmy a more left wing space. Hexbear has a broader definition of what constitutes as reactionary thought than most people do though so they'll frequently attack liberals too.

Basically they felt hexbear's community wouldn't mesh well with lemmy.world

Basically a single transphobe came in, a load of trans hexbear users started bullying them and mocking them and that boosted the visibility of the post so that more transphobes came into the comments, but because you're not federated with hexbear all you're seeing is the transphobes and some people doing pushback on them

We've never "pretended to support lgbt", why would we? What would be the point of a load of alt right channers roleplaying as queer communists for years on an incredibly niche social media in the hope that eventually redditors would come to the site? And even supposing we did, and we were all just alt right types, if we'd spent years doing reading groups of queer theory together and kicking out transphobes and creating the most queer friendly space on lemmy just as an incredibly long extended bit then would the supposed communists we're impersonating even take issue with that?

Like just use some critical thinking, at this point almost half of the sites users are trans and most of the rest are queer, most new users cite our radical opposition to queerphobia as their reason for joining, what evidence is there that we lie about being queer friendly? the entirety of conservativism is openly classist, the entire ideology is built on ruthlessly attacking and stripping away protection for those most vulnerable in society. Besides, just because your family wont openly call me a slur for being trans it doesnt mean they aren't supporting a party who market themselves on wanting to strip away my rights. Frankly, you cant be pro-american at all without implicitly supporting the horrific crimes they have historically committed whether within their own borders or outside.
