I got my first Oneplus phone earlier this year and the fast charging is such a nice convenience. I thought it'd just be a gimmick I wouldn't care about, but its something I take advantage of basically everyday.

In the past I've used Pixels and Galaxys and they tend to claim they have fast charging, but in reality its pretty slow. My old Fold 3 took ~1.5 hours to fully charge.

For comparison, the Oneplus 11 I replaced it with fully charges in under half an hour, usually closer to 25 minutes (though I very rarely actually charge up to 100%).

I bought a second charger to keep in my backpack and it basically completely removes any battery anxiety that I used to have. The other day I was out after work and my phone was down to 5%. I saw that I was near a used bookstore, so I went in and charged my phone for 5 minutes while I looked around and I was back up to 35%, enough for several hours of screen on time.

I live in NY. As a pedestrian, cars are way more annoying than bicycles.

His birth is closer to Lincoln's assassination and the abolition of serfdom in Russia than to 2023.

Right? I would have guessed closer to 15.

I actually just checked, I have 721 rep, with 9 questions asked, and 3 answers given. Heck, just logging in each day gets you 10 points.

721 reputation puts you at ~55th percentile. 37k puts her easily in the 99th percentile. It's a pretty big difference.

NBC is owned by Comcast who made $5,370,000,000 in net income last year. That'd be $14,700,000 every day, $610,000 every hour. So just over $10,000 per minute. They made $170 every second.

€13 is cheap for Ryanair, but it's not some absurd anomaly. I went from Ireland to Italy for €18, and took a bunch of other flights for <€30.

Vegans don't eat animals for the sake of the animals, because they believe killing them unnecessarily is morally wrong.

Saying you're only going to eat animals once a day is like saying you're going to halve the amount of violent crimes you commit and expecting praise for it.

Someone who exclusively ate meat for some reason who moved to chicken would have a greater impact than someone who exclusively ate chicken and went vegan.

But that first person could have an even bigger environmental impact by becoming Vegan instead of only eating chicken.

It's almost certainly because OpenAI is throwing less computing power at it in order to decrease the cost.

Make sure you add spoiler tags as needed.

My favorite character in the Cosmere is Kaladin and my two favorite quotes come from him.

First is from The Way of Kings: You were not shocked when a child knew how to breathe. You were not shocked when a skyeel took flight for the first time. You should not be shocked when you hand Kaladin a spear and he knows how to use it.

Second is from Words of Radiance: Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do

If you want to minimize plant death, going vegan is still the right move.

Most of the crops we grow go to feeding animals that people eat.

I feel like Tiktok is one of the few that does work without an account.

I'd probably have to go with Audiobookshelf and Kavita. Behind those would be Invidous and Immich.

I've been trying to join https://lemmy.world/c/climbing@lemmy.ml from kbin, but it's not coming up on the magazine search. If I search for that or !climbing@lemmy.ml, it just says "empty".

Other Lemmy communities do show up, though. If I search for "NBA", then nba@lemmy.world and nba@lemmy.ml both come up.
