"significant penalties"

[-] BoulevardBlvd 2 points 4 weeks ago

I'm guessing it's whatever the next 7 poorest states are but hard agree they should list them

Gestures vaguely at 2011 socal and then vaguely at today socal

More specifically Maga didn't exist and conservatives were far less damaging, or at least less overtly damaging such that it was less socially acceptable to overtly despise them.

But again, I was a child and that at least colors my memory of 2011

Sure, call me evil because I can see the harm it will do. That's easier than having to think about what I said and consider the fact you might be wrong. But if I'm evil then you are the literal devil. That kid who wants that tuberculosis medicine, how do you think we got that medicine? A company invested millions to research it. So when the next disease comes around and it's killing millions and no one is willing to just burn millions to find a cure because they have no IP, those deaths will be because of people like you. You have this childish mindset that after IP is gone everyone will magically have meds in their hands and everything will be perfect. No, you're just as dumb as you are evil. New diseases will come up, no one will invest in curing them because they will lose money, and people will die. The difference between me and you is I can see more than 1 month into the future on how this would effect things.

Prove it cunt. Show me a single fucking time in all of human history where people didn't try to cure disease because they couldn't make money. This is exactly what I'm talking about. You buy dumb shit like this hook line and sinker. You're an idiot who thinks they're smart and it's killing children. There is absolutely zero evidence proving anything about IP is responsible for any disease cure. There are no actual studies proving it because it is an absolutely ridiculous proposition to say altruism doesn't exist. But you're so fucking braindead at this point you actually believe it

No. IP does not improve the healthcare system in any way. Spreading these lies is why I called you evil. Because they're the reason children are dying. You're correct I am also evil. Our body counts are identical. I just have the human decency to feel shame about it.

And there it is! Finally! You entered a discussion of theory: a discussion on what the ideal is. A discussion where no one is talking anything about the mechanics of getting there and you decided to completely ignore that and start talking about "compromises" and "reality" as though it made you smart to completely miss the discussion actually taking place.

No, I will not "join you in reality" (i.e. Talk about policy) because we are not discussing policy, we are discussing theory. That is what was posted, that is what everyone around you is talking about.

The question posed is "what should be?" You don't get to pretend that's a discussion of what is and walk away like you made a point.

Also, no shit the ancient Greeks paid for art. I wasn't making a claim about the Greeks. I said before the industrial revolution as in "just before the industrial revolution" and no, even then it wasn't perfect. But both that and the Greek system was a completely different beast to what we have today and you know it!

Stop being a smug asshole and actually engage with the discussion or fuck off. Nothing you are saying is relevant to the actual discussion. I'm advocating for a completely different social structure and you're saying "but that wouldn't work under our current system"! It's not a compelling argument, it's the whining of a child who is choosing not to comprehend what's being said because it makes you uncomfy

That's what I was thinking! Except last time I heard it a decade ago there wasn't any actual evidence and it was only antivax homeschool weirdos talking about it. I'd love to hear from anyone who read the actual study to see if this is real this time. Not about to trust the same people that ran "a glass of wine a day is good for you" at one point. US news doesn't have actual science communicators and their popsci headlines are universally trash

Edit having now read the guardian article: only proved my point. The only thing they cite is the California prop 65 which is absolutely useless as evidence of possible harm. I'm genuinely asking for the real paper or someone who read it here because nothing from OP is of any use and the guardian doesn't cite their sources (which sucks! because it might be genuinely dangerous and I have no idea! I don't want to poison myself but this very well could be bullshit!)

Except you can and projecting your beliefs onto others is the literal definition of society. You can't not project your beliefs onto others

We are not bystanders. All societies are negotiated both within them between members and between members and observers outside. The idea that anyone should forgo their opinion on another culture is naive and asinine. You're asking for all social exchange to stop in order to preserve an arbitrary set of rules in amber. The system you want to uphold as precious is both not real, and not valuable enough to justify the cost

Oh also, free speech is an inalienable right. In fact I'd go so far as to say learning it's inalienable is how you learned the word inalienable. Free speech is a human right. Anyone anywhere who is limiting it is commiting a crime against humanity. The opinion of the people in charge doesn't change that. That's literally how inalienable rights work. So, no fucking clue what you were on about there

Also also, if you were Canadian, what trouble could you possibly get in being critical of Thailand? You're either an insane coward or a liar for that one

Interesting! Though it's not actually Russia specific, they're just the most recent ones. The exact same thing happened before the American revolution. Everyone blamed the administrators working for him in the new world thinking they were deceiving the king. Actually, the king making his distain for the colonists clear was a major motivator towards revolution for many people

Point being naive monarchism happens anywhere people believe their leader is divinely inspired or otherwise perfect and loving of them. Cognitive dissonance is a hell of a drug

Criticizing me for using complex, appropriate linguistic cultural markers while also acting pissed about prescriptivism. Class, that's what we call internal inconsistency! Also known as hypocrisy! Seriously, we all know me not using a period was a tone indicator. Be better.

Not that anyone missed that. You're entire personality is im14andthisisdeep personified. You're a literal firehose of pseudointellectual drivel

And the fact that you aren't insulting people is not for any lack of trying on your part. You're just shit at it. You're the only person who is buying the lie that you're just "telling it like it is". Your utter distain for everyone else drips from every word and you're not stupid enough to not know that. Which means you're delusional

And for the record, though your "manifesto" here really doesn't deserve the effort, you're an idiot for thinking a "return" to print media of all fucking things is 1) possible, and 2) actually going to solve absolutely anything. And before you jump in I know what you actually meant, but the fact of the matter is all of your ideas are rose tinted, romanticized horseshit. You've no actual concept of how the world around you functions, you just think you're better than everyone around you and if they just acted like you instead everything would be fine.

Social media is a symptom. Trump is a symptom. The media landscape is a symptom. The political landscape is a symptom! And I hate to break it to you kid (again I'm throwing you a bone here pretending you're young and just have maturing to do. I'm begging you let me sleep better and don't correct me) but the US in 2023 and the US today are the exact fucking same. Welcome to the real world, sorry it sucks, but this shit isn't new. It's start isn't even in living memory. The only thing new is that you started to pay attention

~~Live long enough to be embarrassed by how you behaved here.~~

NVM you're like a trillion years old. ( I mean Jesus, what kind of psycho doxes themselves on their profile like that?) You're just another selfish liberal boomer who's been willfully ignorant up until the moment that was literally impossible. I changed my mind. You had your chance to be a good person already and you proved you weren't. Do us all the favor already. Your generation's apathy and selfishness are literally the reason all of this is happening. No wonder I thought you were a fucking child. Choke on your rage and drown in your tears you pathetic thief of humanity's future

[-] BoulevardBlvd 1 points 1 month ago

Yup. That one's on me. I should have been more specific. I asked for an example of Nazis with power in Ukraine and you gave it to me.

Let me try again, what Nazis, specifically named, are in power today? Because what you linked mentioned one politician who is still active today who is vaguely linked to the OUN and it didn't even tell me what that link was. Similarly "Rising antisemitism" and "rising nationalism" are meaningless in this day and age. I need you to show me what you mean when you say those things. I asked for evidence, not more claims.

No. Propagandist is.

No one knowing what you're saying is a problem, but that's a you problem. Everyone who reads what you wrote is confused because what you're saying sounds like the ravings of a lunatic. No one knows what you're talking about. We've never heard of these events you're alluding to. So either show proof of them or we're going to write you off as another propaganda shill

But you knew all of this because it's 2025 and no one on lemmy doesn't understand how the Internet works. Which means you're lying for a purpose. You're a propagandist.

Most of the time it's accompanied by "sins of the father" rhetoric where nothing changes but we'll see I guess
