That's very different to saying there's no solution.

Apartheids don't like being told to stop feeding on the blood and resources their hosts - of course, that's very true. But the cat is out of the bag. The apartheid will fall and the lands of Palestine will regrow - the question is now how long it will take and how many innocent people Israel will kill before it implodes.

It stands to reason the lining up process was all that was keeping him alive... I know that we have our own political assassinations in the West but this whole affair is still wild.

Exactly. It's insane we need to remember details like this but here we are.

I hear you, but it's different here so that isn't inevitable - our scooters have helmets clipped in so unless it's been nicked or something there's usually one there to use and (admittedly because our cycling infrastructure is, on par, outright dangerous) we have laws here that put the onus on drivers. For us, it is their fault - they're legally meant to stay 1.5 metres away from us on roads.

I mean, the safety stuff is pretty essential here tbh, aforementioned infrastructure being what it is - I wouldn't trust Australian drivers (or even the road itself in some cases) with my safety, so I think we might be in different contexts.

I mean, Portland was the beginnings of one.

I mean, we do in Australia - though to be fair, I've seen more of a drop off in use after the rental scooters came to town; but almost everyone I see on their own bike is wearing a helmet.

Guess we have to protect ourselves in the face of such little bike infrastructure

I'd counterpoint by saying that Meta isn't a person - up its not really a apples-to-apples comparison here. They're trying to get in here to make money. Pure and simple. I'd wager we aren't - we're here hour community.

Our wants and needs are opposed, that's why I'm not comfortable with letting them commercialise/monopolise whatever they want - especially somewhere that could offer us a more healthy online experience and upset their business model long term.

Huh - well, I guess usually you'd commission someone you know of through somewhere (like their Instagram or something), but for a cold call? I guess you could get in contact with some local spray shops for a pointer towards someone taking work (if you're looking for somewhere with skin in the local game, Crush City in Annerley might be able to help you out), otherwise take a browse through BSAFs insta (Brisbane Street Art Festival) for artists or styles you might like to reach out for. Find someone who's work you like, ask them about a commission, how much and if they can't most will know a person who could.

But yeah, very relationship based space as far as I can tell! Soda Mauf and Emmanuel More have done commercial mural work before and they're great, Soda is a West End legend - hell, EEKAS just did a mural in that new yuppied-to-hell Harris Farms and that guy is a writers writer (such a weird connection there, would love to hear how that came about one day).

Won't speak for all, but I think most would be (at minimum) happy to hear someone wants to commission their work.
