This is a projection in Oakland. You can find the original art here.

The way-back machine found a March 2023 Reddit post by Aaron Bushnell where he said, “I’ve realized that a lot of the difference between me and my less radical friends is that they are less capable of imagining a better world than I am. I follow YouTubers like Andrewism that fill my head with concrete images of free, post-scarcity communities, and it makes me so much more prepared to reject things about the current world, because I’ve imagined how things could be and that helps me see how extremely bullshit things are right now.”

If you care to see the full quote, you can check @tinythunders on Twitter or Andrewism’s YouTube Channel, the community tab.

He made the ultimate sacrifice for what he believed, and I hope we never stop talking about him.

I think a lot of news sites have already moved on

[-] Cethin@lemmy.zip 19 points 11 months ago

Most news sites moved on before it happened. They would never talk about it because it's bad for them. They aren't a reason he shouldn't be talked about everywhere else.

Uhhm

They aren’t a reason he shouldn’t be talked about everywhere else.

I just meant that since news sites affect the general discourse so much, I'm not feeling too optimistic about the topic being talked about. People are so quick to move on to new topics these days.

Tbh they should use the actual video and play it on repeat with sound. Do that. Do that for him.

Tbh, idk even know much about the Israel Gaza thing... So I can't speak to that. But the comment about the ruling class making what we see the world as today the new normal... That hit me. We are nothing but slaves for others power and greed. And I think that's a truth that people try to escape from by consumerism and drugs.

The average citizen should be forced to watch the horrors and morbid deaths of war that they pay to manifest.

If we should have to watch it, it should be beamed in to the fucking brains of the rich and powerful. They should personally feel every civilian death.

If you are interested, there's a new video from Shaun making the rounds that explains the situation in depth.

They suspended his account? That's ... so incredibly heartless and sad. Thank you for these links.

Glad I’ve cut my visits to that cesspool site by 99 percent. This will kick it to 100.

Yep, this is low, even for them

[-] Five@slrpnk.net 12 points 11 months ago

It's more complicated than that (but not much) - pro-genocide trolls are mass-flagging Aaron's alleged account's comments and posts, probably causing Reddit's automated spam measures to suspend the account. Reddit is just okay with their good moderators gone and the automated system they now rely on almost entirely gamed and abused. They may also be politically unmotivated to fix it in this case.

As someone who was permabanned from reddit for "abusing the report button" by reporting transphobia, I'm not confident this is just the result of an automated system.

That building is perfect for projecting things on it.

Yes. It is called the Great Wall of Oakland. People dance on it too: Bandaloop.
