[-] Hupf@feddit.de 27 points 1 year ago

You wouldn't download a Linux ISO

That's not a crime if the code is GPL licensed.

(Leading Edge) + (Bleeding Edge) = Seething Edge? Where you have neither bleeding edge software nor stability.

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Oh look. It’s Bill Gates trying to look all cool and hip.

Look, I get it, you want all the free marketing of having your chrome-knock-off browser become a verb…..

[-] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah I’m not clicking that link….

(Edit: I lied. Morbid curiosity and I’m very disappointed. My money was on a Rick roll.)

Jean-Luc Picard: Computer, Fedora!

[-] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

A hat transports onto his head

Picard moonwalks away like some sort of smooth criminal

[-] QuazarOmega@lemy.lol 16 points 1 year ago

What happened to Fedora FYI?

[-] ipkpjersi@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 year ago

It's wholesome to see people from other distros get along.

[-] Zachariah@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

I use Fedora btw

[-] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 year ago

I use Debian. I'm alone on Valentine's Day :(

[-] lemmesay@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 1 year ago

Debian is love, Debian is life. it's even in the name!
Valentine's day is temporary, Debian is forever.

[-] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Yes. I'm alone because no one else is good enough for me! :P

[-] kense@lmmy.dk 8 points 1 year ago

Currently running Fedora on my ThinkPad T14 Gen 1, but the trackpad is hit or miss. It will either work splendid, or Tap-to-Click and scrolling are working 40% of the time..

I really like Fedora, but might just return to Ubuntu, as I had no issues with the trackpad there.

[-] lud@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Try kubuntu. It uses (the imo much nicer) KDE instead of gnome.

[-] limelight79@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

I'm planning to switch away from Kubuntu after using it for at least a decade on my desktop and laptop machines. The whole snap thing gets annoying. Yes, I can override it, I know, but...effort. I'm planning to just go to Debian.

[-] moomoomoo309@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

Just get KDE from the horse's mouth then and use KDE Neon. Ubuntu packages, but snapd isn't even installed by default. It also ships with rolling release stable KDE, but isn't rolling release otherwise.

[-] limelight79@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

I'm not clear on the benefit of that over just running Debian. And aren't there concerns about Canonical?

how was your Ubuntu experience? Because i always felt like it could break any time: all this PPAs, need to compile lots of stuff yourself and the release model in general haven't quite worked for me.

I could recommend you to try EndeavourOS if you had somewhat similar problems. It works like a charm, since its an Arch derivative but without Manjaro's problems, which means it has rolling release model, so you always get the latest version pacages, and it has AUR support, which means you won't ever need to clone and compile anything from github, as there's 99% chance it already has its AUR, so all it takes is to type "yay -S *package name*". Not to mention the comprehensive ArchWiki. It also has an i3 flavor. I fucking love i3.
