The Biden campaign is planning a spring fundraiser for the president to appear with his two Democratic predecessors.

President Joe Biden’s campaign is trying to organize a first-of-its-kind fundraiser that officials hope would be lucrative and headline-grabbing, but also energizing for Democratic voters who so far have not shown enthusiasm for the party’s 2024 ticket, according to four people familiar with the planning.

The idea is for three Democratic presidents — Biden, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama — to appear together at a fundraiser this spring, the four people familiar with the discussions said.

Discussions are underway to coordinate the presidents’ schedules, these people said, though no date has been set. The fundraiser would likely take place in March or April, two of the sources familiar with the discussions said.

The plan underscores the belief among Biden allies that the party needs an all-hands-on-deck approach to help him win a second term. It’s also just one in a growing list of ways that Democratic leaders, and the Biden campaign, are gearing up for a general election they view as having the highest of stakes.

Obama is certainly helpful, but I'm not sure Bill Clinton is the vote-getter he might have once been.

They should invite Bernie.

Absolutely.

The leading progressive, who was Biden’s chief rival in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, told The Associated Press that he would “do everything I can to see the president is reelected.”

“The last thing this country needs is a Donald Trump or some other right-wing demagogue who is going to try to undermine American democracy or take away a woman’s right to choose, or not address the crisis of gun violence, or racism, sexism or homophobia,” Sanders said in an interview. “So, I’m in to do what I can to make sure that the president is reelected.”

No clue. But he should get an invite anyway.

Obama, only surpassed by Bush at killing people

Maybe so, but still very popular amongst the Democratic Party's rank-and-file.

I can’t wait to get off FPTP so I can join a party I actually like.

This. If I could vote for somebody on Team Green or Team Eurosocialist or even Team Communist WITHOUT my vote resulting in Team Red's merry band of Fascist Frogs to get back in and stink up the place, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But as long as First Past the Post is the system we use, I'm voting for the Democrat even if he or she doesn't check off all my boxes, because Team Pepe is FAR worse than anything Biden has done.

Why, yes, the military industrial complex is deeply ingrained into the US government.

This kind of feels like a reunion gig where you are super excited, because you used to love that band when you were younger. Then you go and it just isn't as good as you had hoped. Did they get too old, did you change? You can't tell but nobody was partying like they used to.

Are they forming some sort of Democrat megazord?

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

Well there aren't enough of them to form a Voltron.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden’s campaign is trying to organize a first-of-its-kind fundraiser that officials hope would be lucrative and headline-grabbing, but also energizing for Democratic voters who so far have not shown enthusiasm for the party’s 2024 ticket, according to four people familiar with the planning.

The idea is for three Democratic presidents — Biden, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama — to appear together at a fundraiser this spring, the four people familiar with the discussions said.

It’s also just one in a growing list of ways that Democratic leaders, and the Biden campaign, are gearing up for a general election they view as having the highest of stakes.

As a result, the campaign is increasing the pace of its hiring, particularly in battleground states, and ramping up its focus on voters whose support it believes will decide the November election, officials said.

The overarching goal of a fundraiser where Biden, Clinton and Obama share a stage is to raise a significant amount of money, two of the people familiar with the discussions said.

To try to seize on that momentum, the White House has expanded how Biden conveys his economic message by having him engage more one-on-one with Americans about specific issues, including student loan debt and running a small business.

Not high enough stakes to compromise with leftists though. Let's not overreact here. /s

I guess since Trump raped Carrol, it only makes since to have President “I did not have sexual relations” on the team…

[-] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

To be fair, if Trump wins, there's a decent chance he'd eventually imprison all of them.

A trifecta of procorporate trash presidents.
