Imagine the pressure on them. What if they didn't actually want to work with animals?

[-] Godnroc@lemmy.world 37 points 2 years ago

They could probably just do that. Just move to a different career path and show support for an animal activist group; they would get a chance to talk about a cause they support, talk about their father on camera, and honor what so many people remember him for.

[-] SapphironZA@lemmings.world 26 points 2 years ago

I am sure they have the pressure of expectation on the, but from how genuine they come across, they were inspired and shared their father's and mother's (don't forget her) love for animals.

I am not sure that can be faked so convincingly.

"I want to be a plumber!"

"Yeah, nah, fuck that mate"

[-] RootBeerGuy@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 years ago

"Now go put that thumb up that drop bears asshole!"

[-] stufkes@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

This, so much. Every time they get posted I just feel very uncomfortable by this. Just because no one is holding a gun to their head, doesn't mean that they don't feel obligated to keep their father alive as it were. I honestly just can't believe that this is genuine.

Who doesn't want to work with animals? If I can I will go to Australia zoo and apply for a job there.

[-] fruitSnackSupreme@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Um I don't. Animals are fine, but I don't want to work with them.

[-] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 54 points 2 years ago

That is the least crazy looking drop bear I’ve ever seen.

[-] SomeoneElse@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

Disney drop bear. It looks suspiciously clean… do you reckon it still has gonorrhoea or whatever it is they carry?

[-] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 9 points 2 years ago

Chlamydia. I’m guessing not yet.

[-] SuperIce@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

They must've just washed it before this pic

[-] boeman@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

It does look a lot like a Muppet.

[-] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 44 points 2 years ago

That koala’s face says:

“That’s right, I got her all to myself”

[-] flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 years ago

...and I've got chlamydia!

[-] samus12345@lemmy.world 33 points 2 years ago

Why is the koala smiling? What does he know??

[-] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

He is high as fuck on eucalyptus.

[-] Fizz@lemmy.nz 10 points 2 years ago

He knows the love and care from the Irwin kids and the other keepers.

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

The secrets of the universe...

Also I guess the Koala bit of Trek lore hasn't reached the public yet lol

[-] AlfredEinstein@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Bindi Sue just cured his chlamydia

I’m still waking up; I thought that was Steve

[-] MyOtherUsername@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago
[-] andrew@lemmy.stuart.fun 12 points 2 years ago

I'm assuming this is meant as "Steve is looking down on them with pride" and have absolutely no idea why you're downvoted.

[-] rikudou@lemmings.world 20 points 2 years ago

Because he's dead.

[-] Alpha71@lemmy.world 15 points 2 years ago

they both look like their parents, it's scary.

Hopefully they treat wild animals better than their dad did.

Unpopular opinion I know, but every episode that dude was intentionally pissing off wild animals to get their reaction for the camera.

One of my favorite comments on that video: "the only guy who could grab a facehugger by the tail and say 'AIN'T SHE A BEAUT?!'"

As an Australian this is how I was introduced to the guy.

Exactly how I remember Steve!

[-] dylanTheDeveloper@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

We'll Steve Jobs was more of a tech person rather than an animal lover

[-] boogetyboo@aussie.zone 9 points 2 years ago

Fuck I couldn't stand Steve, and I don't care for the children. The kids are better with the animals at least. He was an irritating, reckless fuckwit.

The Irwins are like Fosters. Australian export that many of us don't enjoy.

honestly roberts tiktok is the best thing ever. i see so much of steve in him 💕

[-] RoverRacecar@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Bruh, I'm happy for the animals, but this family is always atroturfing on Reddit for pr.

[-] Stamets@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

Cool. This isn't reddit. Moreover, I seriously doubt the family themselves are doing anything on reddit. Steve Irwin had an extremely popular show and made an impact on a lot of people. Chances are its just those people sharing love about someone who is gone.

[-] RoverRacecar@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

The family isn't doingut, they pay people to do pr for them. If people online want to post ads to communities, just label them. Reddit or soon to be a ActivityPub instance.

[-] fadhl3y@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Joe Exotic would be proud

Every one is talking about that koala, but is that snake a Taipan by any chance?

(Nah, it isn't.)
