In the spirit of Agatha Christie cozies I've noticed as a technique of masking having a couple of distinct character traits puts others at ease, so I'm the guy in a cat tee who really likes coffee, and if that's all I am then I'm less likely to be the killer.

Contrast a quiet but large goblin who is nervous and uncomfortable in social situations.
