  1. One for business and one for pleasure (lemmynsfw.com)
[-] BecomingTheFalcon@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

This is the way

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 year ago

3! One for porn, one that was my main but then the instance got overrun by lunatics and got subsequently defederated by all the main instances, and this one

[-] sini@lemm.ee 16 points 1 year ago

Two: First on world, but it was pretty laggy so I changed to lemm.ee. The entire experience is better.

[-] wfh@lemm.ee 8 points 1 year ago

Exactly the same!

I still admire and am super thankful to @ruud for all the time, effort and money he and his friends are pouring into trying to optimize world.

[-] Gulmar@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Exactly the same here!

[-] lakemalcom10@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Pretty much same here. I couldn't actually sign into the first one because I hadn't put in my email. Now I'm on lemm.ee!

[-] CrypticCoffee@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Same. Did it partly for my own experience, but also to move way and give new users and a chance to join us. :)

[-] heartlessevil@lemmy.one 10 points 1 year ago

Two because I instantly got banned from the first one

I said that the lemmy.ml admins were marxist-leninists, I'm still unsure what was controversial about it

Two. One for lemmy.world but then due to the issues, moved to lemm.ee which is my current main.

5 - one Beehaw, but after taking me 2 weeks to be accepted, I moved on to lemmy.world and now switched to lemm.ee since lemmy.world is having some problems with the huge influx of new users. Also have another one on lemmynsfw.com for...Well... Reasons. I also have one on Kbin, altough I don't really use it since 99% of my Lemmy/Kbin browsing in on Android and I don't know of any KBin apps as of now, besides, I think I'll just settle down on lemm.ee for now.

[-] Southrydge@vlemmy.net 7 points 1 year ago

Just one, I'm glad I'm able to interact with all instances from this account, I think if I felt I had to make so many accounts I'd get overwhelmed and quit lemmy

[-] michikade@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Three total, but was using lemmy.world as my main until recently with all the groaning under the pressure of all the new signups so yesterday I spent about an hour or so methodically recreating my subscribe feed on lemm.ee

Nothing at all against the admins over at .world but when it’s pushing the absolute limits of capacity with all the new people coming by, it makes for a different experience all together on a smaller instance. Course because it’s hiccuping over there I’m seeing some significant delays in federation but whaddyagonnado.

[-] SexualPolytope@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I opened an account in lemmy.world first, simply because I didn't know better. Then I realized that it'll be a good idea to stay on a smaller instance. Been with lemmy.sdf.org since and been pretty happy with it.

[-] m13@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

What are the advantages of being on a smaller instance?

Two. I started on lemmy.ml, but then I spun up my own instance for me and a couple friends who mentioned wanting to check out lemmy.

[-] ofespii 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

3 so far.. but it's mainly trial and error.

Started off with Lemmy.ml then wanted a bigger instance.

Moved to Lemmy.world then ended up having too many users and lagging.

So I moved to a good compromise: Lemmy.blahaj.zone

But yeah. Three so far with the exact same username 😬

[-] skunch 4 points 1 year ago

I'm on Lemmy.blahaj.zone because my lgbt wife loves blahaj and I figure it will make her more comfortable when she eventually moves to Lemmy. Don't feel the need for another instance.

[-] oehm@midwest.social 5 points 1 year ago
  1. Started on lemmy.ml when I didn’t know anything about lemmy. Switched to lemmy.world after getting annoyed with the tankie shit. Then switched to Midwest.social because lemmy.world was way over inundated and barely functioning.
[-] Fractalfarmer@reddthat.com 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Only one, I was tempted to sign up to another but I only just about got a nice mix of subscribed communities on this one and don't have the patience to go through it again. I don't really see the point, either, unless you are signing up to a second one that isn't federated with your current one.

Also, shout out to ReddThat.com, absolutely zero glitches or issues so far except for those that seem to be fediverse wide. Good place to be with good people.

How many instances i have accounts on? Only 1, this one I'm using right now haha

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

All of them! hahaha, I will own the fediverse now!

[-] Atiran@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Well, I just joined today, so only one. But since you can subscribe and post to communities on any other instance, I’m not sure why I would need to sign up on another unless I wanted to change. That’s what makes the fediverse amazing.

[-] modkhi@vlemmy.net 4 points 1 year ago

Juat one, VLemmy.

I signed up about two weeks ago I think? And I picked one that seemed large enough and permissive enough to be stable but not the biggest because I knew that one was going to get flooded with new users and suffer once the rest of reddit decided to jump ship.

So far, seems to have been the right choice.

[-] gtfomyinterweb@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I'm pretty sure I registered on Beehaw a few months back, but can't seem to login there with my usual credentials. Maybe I just visited the site without registering. I'm happy with just lemmy.world for now though.

[-] Leviathan@feddit.ch 3 points 1 year ago

Same thing happened to me, the log in icon just kept spinning.

[-] EyesOfTheWatcher@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Just 2: Lemmy.ml and lemmy.world.

Still trying to get my bearings before I decided when/if I want to host

[-] SmokeInFog@midwest.social 4 points 1 year ago
[-] alaxitoo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Just the one (lemmy.world), but also have a kbin account just out of curiosity. Been using Lemmy much more though 🙃

[-] PreciousDeclaration@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

I have accounts on 3 different instances.

[-] UdeRecife@geddit.social 3 points 1 year ago

More than 10. I'm still waiting the confirmations from some of the instances.

I read some weeks ago that lemmy instances are like email providers. So I've taken to hear the advice that I should try different instances before settle into one. It has also been part of my lemmy leaning process. I won't recommend it, though.

[-] Kristho@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Only one - on lemm.ee. Have been working great so far :)

[-] Tucumano88@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

One, lemmy.ml but want to change to a smaller one, any recommendation?

[-] Terevos@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

6 or 7..I kinda lost track.

Most were to evaluate the best instance.

One or two were just to force manual federation sync of a community I moderate.

[-] CanOpener@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

Just one. Tried kbin but didn't like it.

[-] gilarelli@jlai.lu 3 points 1 year ago

I made 3 accounts but I just deleted 2 because imho it didn't made sense. I kept the one on the smallest instance for it's reactivity and because it's easier to keep track of things I want to save/follow

[-] reclipse@lemdro.id 3 points 1 year ago

All of them

[-] Hizeh@hizeh.com 3 points 1 year ago

I setup my own instance. Performance is must better than the big instances, but looks like propagation of all the federated content is a bit slow.

Hopefully update to Lemmy improve the syncing.

Sadly, I had to make an account in two instances.

[-] zerbey@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

I'm on lemmy.world (which is being crushed by new users) and infosec.pub. Considering just spinning up my own server.

[-] ZebraGoose@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

3, Lemmy.world beehaw.org sh.itjust.works and my own selfhosted 😄

[-] sporez@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

3 (4 if you count kbin). Beehaw (which took weeks to be approved) so moved to Lemmy world, which is now overloaded and slow so Lemm.ee which is snappy and fast.

[-] dan@startrek.website 2 points 1 year ago

Why would I need more than one? A couple comments don't show up once in a while, but other than that, I can get everything from one account.

[-] yads@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

I signed up for lemmy.ca after lemmy.world became more or less unusable for me. I can also see creating multiple accounts for different interests.

  1. I started out with the og Lemmy.ml.
  2. Then created my own instance/bot Lemmit.
  3. Thought Lemmy.ml was to slow/unstable, so created an account on Lemmy.world
  4. Gotta have a separate account for grown up stuff, so signed up on LemmyNSFW.com
  5. Gee... Lemmy.world is kinda slow/unstable... Better sign up on lemm.ee...

I'll probably retire the lemmy.ml and world accounts though.

[-] BendyLemmy@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Haha I cannot say for sure. I certainly started to duplicate my credentials... so now I'm more likely to be logged in as BendyLemmy.

So initially it was Lemmy.ml (which wasn't working too well) and it got annoying that I wasn't logged in when opening links - so BeeHaw, Lemmy.world, https://fosstodon.org/ is BendyToy,...

One thing I'm finding useful now in Bitwarden is that I can autofill and copy (so just refresh for a new password) to get the same username for each one... but it's kind of getting out of hand.

It's a little frustrated that we can't use a kind of centralised profile - like the way an 'opendesktop' account can be used to log in to various instances of websites. If I log in the Opendesktop website, and then go to Mastodon, I find my Opendesktop account gets logged in there - so there's more fragmentation.

Overal it is just very confusing.
