If Trump loses the nomination he'll simply return to Mar-a-Lago and 'carp and moan and complain,' said Christie

Chris Christie doesn't expect Donald Trump to concede if he loses any primary election.

The former New Jersey governor was discussing focusing his campaign efforts on New Hampshire with Jonathan Karl on "This Week" when he was asked if he believes Trump would concede in a primary he loses.

"I don't care," Christie responded.

He explained "no one will expect" Trump to concede based on the fact that he still hasn't publicly admitted he lost the 2020 presidential election — or given up his unfounded claims of widespread election fraud.

Another meaningless article giving Trump publicity. At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if Trump surpassed 75M votes

I wish that when they mention Trump, that they also mentioned that he is liable for sexual assault, fraud and under indictment for (list all the charges in this space). A responsible press would make sure their readers had all the facts each time.

I like Biden a lot more than I expected to when I voted for him, but the reason he got so many more votes than any previous candidate in history isn't simply because he's that good. The reason people showed up to the polls was to get rid of Trump.

I think the Democrat politicians also want to keep Trump in the news because they believe that Trump winning the nomination and also being convicted and imprisoned gives them the best chance of winning next year.

It's a dangerous game they're playing.

It's not dissimilar to the game they played and lost in 2016

I had an hypothesis that CNN mobile was running Trump stories 24/7 to expose him as an ass, turn people off.

Nope. They just wanted the eyeballs on their screen.

"I don't care" is the right answer from Christie.

But you know he's not going to lose any primaries. He could be convicted and in jail, and he's still beat them. It's the state of the GOP and the electorate that they have wrought. Carefully and purposely, it has taken years to craft, but now they must live with the monster they have fabricated.

They wanted this. An angry misinformed mob to do their bidding and distract from the fact that we still don't have affordable healthcare.

[-] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

I don't agree. I think that's what they wanted, yes. What they got was far from a mob that does their bidding. They do his bidding and he does things in his interest alone.

Look at the other primary candidates trying to be the best imitation of him. They even have an Indian guy spitting random hate. It would make for hilarious satire if it wasn't reality.

Any sensible conservatives left the party long ago. Those with some sense left vote out of spite against the Democrats, but even they are waning in that support.

That party is in chaos and he does well in that setting.

[-] CosmicTurtle@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

Fun fact: nothing stops the president from serving while in prison. I fully expect the GOP to have Trump be president even if he's doing it from a supermax prison.

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 3 points 9 months ago

They got exactly what they wanted. An unruly mob that will not listen to reality and can be pushed in almost any direction the right operative can push them in. Once Trump is actually gone (the worst of us never seem to die) it will be a dangerous time for us as an actual "intelligent" manipulator will jump in and take them for another ride, but he'll have a destination in mind other than "fill my bank account."

"honestly, i think trump also wears a pant size greater than 32." christie added

[-] rayyy@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Pretty sure orange man's depends size would be 320-400lbs though

[-] tacosplease@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

I have a six pack and don't have a 32 inch waist. Trump's circumference is probably 42" or much larger.

[-] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Has to be larger. I have a 38" waist and I'm about half his diameter.

[-] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 6 points 9 months ago

As is now tradition.

Why would he. He is a sore loser.

[-] GrapesofDank@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Why would he with all the evidence of election tampering from all angles? Those who don't see just simply are refusing to look.

Not sure why you're being downvoted. The gerrymandering and illegal voting is real. I mean that's all on the Republicans, but it's real.

Oh, right.
