For me it's lemonade, kicking off a Dry July. Maybe with some bitters. Welcome to the second half of 2023!

What are you drinking this week?

Whipped up some delicious Singapore slings yesterday! I used a recipe from The Educated Barfly, but instead of adding soda water, I just shook and carbonated the whole thing.

  • 1.5oz (45ml) Gin London Dry
  • .25oz (7.5ml) Cherry Heering
  • .25oz (7.5ml) Benedictine
  • .25oz (7.5ml) Cointreau
  • 1oz (30ml) Lime Juice
  • .25oz (7.5ml) Grenadine
  • .75oz (20ml) Pineapple Juice
  • 1 dash Angostura
  • Soda Water [top]

It's sweet, but I think pretty balanced. Kinda tastes like a delicious melted sno-cone, but that might just be my association with cherry heering.

Guava mojito

Recipe : 1 Oz white rum 1 Oz Jamaican rum 2.5 Oz guava juice 0.5 Oz lemon juice Mint for garnish

I bought guava juice from a local Indian store that is pairing really well with rum.

Kept it light and simple over the long holiday.

Elderflower sparking water, Apertivo, Gin, Ice (maybe a citrus rind laying around)

Ratio changed a bit periodically, but just a light refreshing beverage on hot days.

For Friday Synch & to continue dry July - a jalapeno/black pepper limeade. Fresh limes from the tree, simple syrup, ice and half a jalapeno (also homegrown), few black peppercorns, pinch of salt, water to cover, all in the blender then taste, adjust, blend again & strain over ice.

Fancy variations of sweet & sour drinks are by far my favorite non alcoholic flavored drinks. Excluding coffee of course.

Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.
