  • GMK WoB
  • AEBoards Naevies V2 stock

This is my sixth keyboard (fourth custom). The experience has been extremely good considering the mostly stock setup.

Though I am going to stick with this for a while, I do know my next will be a split ergo. Do share your suggestions for a wireless split ergo.

Tight, I like it!

Thank you. I was aiming for a clean and minimal aesthetic with the setup.

I plan to post my entire desk setup on a relevant community. I am not sure if there is a community yet to share desk setups similar to the battlestation subreddit.

Have you found any battlestation subs on lemmy or kbin yet?

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

I haven’t found an active one yet. Have you?

I may try posting in one of the dormant ones.

Haven't found any just buildapc but it's not that active yet.

That wrist rest is amazing! I mean, obviously the keeb is nice, but that wrist rest...

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Haha. I agree. Orca’s wrist rest elevates even the most boring setups.

I agree! Right now, I have an old 80s computer drawer, which I use for my monitor and the keyboard. It's definitely not "pretty", but I love the antique look. I'll try to post a picture later.

Old meets new.

I look forward to the picture of your setup. :-)

Once I get home, I'll snap and post. I'll let you know here that I posted it, so it doesn't get missed haha

Fair warning, my kb isn't super special, but it's super comfortable to type on.

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

There are very few objectively good things in this hobby, as everything boils down to preference.

If your keyboard is super comfortable, then it is ticking the right boxes. :-)

A truest thing has not been said hahaha

I posted it. Here is is for easy find https://infosec.pub/post/345723

I hope the link works for you. I'm on infosec.pub

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

I am unable to engage there. It is asking me to log in.

Regardless, the C1 is a great choice. With the modification you made, I can see it being super comfortable to type on. :-)

I will see if I can post a few questions in your post about the Glove80.

Weird. I posted it on this community. I just went directly to https://lemmy.ml/c/mechanicalkeyboards and can't find it. Still getting used to Lemmy :/

i've got a split ortho keyboard called corne (you can check my post history for assembly and final result pics), and for a split ergonomic keyboard i'd strongly recommend going for a wireless version (if available) and i wouldn't recommend ortho layout unless you're super committed (if you ever type on smth like a laptop, switch back and forth between ortho and non-ortho is a huge pain, while switching between split and non-split is perfectly fine)

Volume knob in the top right corner?

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yep. Rotating the encoder knob controls the volume, while pressing it toggles play/pause.

[-] Tagger@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

That is a thing of beauty.

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Indeed! Thank you.

Please do share your setup!

[-] Tagger@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I use a laptop with the stock keyboard. Which I realise is probably sacrilegious here.

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Hahaha. Do you plan to get into the hobby? Or are you here out of interest? :-)

[-] Tagger@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Just came across it on all, honestly. While I love the idea of the hobby I don't type anywhere near enough to make it worth it

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

That is a fair outlook. :-)

Love the wood wrist rest

[-] mcmxci@mimiclem.me 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Any info on the wrist rest? Does it warp at all?

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I have mentioned about the wrist rest in another comment of mine here. I bought it on Etsy.

As for your other question, I have not noticed any warping in the board in my 3 years of use.

[-] FirstWizardZorander@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Ooh, that's clean!

What's the '00' key for? Layer or just two zeroes?

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks.

Yes, I do use it to switch layers.

Having said that, it would be pretty fun if it just inserted two zeroes. :D

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Forgot to mention the two accessories in the picture.

  • Orca’s wooden wrist rest
  • Zambumon’s hexagon desk pad
[-] ThoughtGoblin@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, those are doing some heavy lifting for the aesthetic here.

I remember looking for a wrist rest a bit back, but it was hard to find something that was a combination of:

  • Affordable
  • Real wood (not epoxy)
  • Didn't scream it's branding

This one is real sleek.

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Real wood and absence of/minimal branding is what I was looking for too for the aesthetic I was aiming.

I can say the wood’s finishing has aged really well over the three or so years of use.

Thank you for this! I was going to ask about your palm rest.

[-] AusatKeyboardPremi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

No problem. Glad I could help, and induce some engagement within the community. :-)

Look forward to a post of your setup/experience with the hobby.
