Yeah, incredibly harmful to his profits and chance of further peerages. Fuck off to Singapore and stay there ye blustery old cunt, no one wants your overpriced vacuum cleaners.

Henry Hoover for life

[-] DeathWearsANecktie@lemm.ee 17 points 11 months ago

Who would win?

An expensive, cordless, slick modern vacuum cleaner with LED lights

Or

One smiling sucky sucky boi

[-] Transcendant@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago

Smiling sucky boi, everytime

[-] GreatAlbatross@feddit.uk 14 points 11 months ago

I love my Henrys. Beautifully simple, made in Somerset, and if they do break, every part can be swapped in 30s without tools.

[-] Transcendant@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Didn't know they were made in Somerset, my love for them grows

[-] PaulieDied@lemmy.world 5 points 11 months ago

There was an episode of “inside the factory“ about Henry. Worth a watch if you can find it

[-] FatLegTed@feddit.uk 10 points 11 months ago

Hetty Hoover here, slightly smaller and pink - oo-er - but £40 cheaper. Just as good.

Just wish I'd bought one years ago and saved myself a small fortune in vacuum cleaners.

We've got a Hetty and a Henry, one for the house and one for the garage. I haven't managed to get them to breed successfully, although they will both probably outlive me anyway so I don't really need another.

[-] Transcendant@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

If I knew you irl I would SO be making a baby hoover and hiding it next to your current hoovers

[-] Mrkawfee@feddit.uk 4 points 11 months ago

Lupe is really good. Created by ex Dyson engineers who fucked off start their own company. Bonus that one of them is an EU citizen as well.

[-] DeathWearsANecktie@lemm.ee 47 points 11 months ago

Those who claim to "believe in Britain" are often falling over themselves trying to leave.

Sucks to be called out as a hypocrite.

[-] HeartyBeast@kbin.social 30 points 11 months ago

Hopefully this will Streisand Effect the issue that Dyson is, indeed a hypocritical arsehole.

See also how he milked UK taxpayer money to develop electric car batteries and then .... didn't.

[-] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 23 points 11 months ago

Aww did the leopards eat your face?

[-] MrNesser@lemmy.world 21 points 11 months ago

If the shoe fits

[-] Treczoks@kbin.social 20 points 11 months ago

To his profits, or what? He decided to march to the tune of the Leave lies. And then he again decided to basically flee the country for profits.

[-] Syldon@feddit.uk 7 points 11 months ago

Yep. I hope he never sells a product in the UK again.

[-] WoefKat@lemmy.ml 13 points 11 months ago

Those Dyson hand dryers are terrible. They're so noisy they really hurt my ears. I don't know why people buy his stuff.

[-] thehatfox@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

Marketing. Expensive over-engineered solutions to non-existent problems promoted as luxury.

Some of those hand driers turned out to be a health hazard, and a Henry is far better hoover.

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 8 points 11 months ago

Perhaps we should suggest Henry hand driers?

[-] Algaroth@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

People would put their penis in them.

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 7 points 11 months ago

Is this an argument for or against it?

[-] Algaroth@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Neither. I'm just saying it's inevitable. I totally wouldn't do it but I'm sure someone would so if they did make them Henry Hoover should have a sensual and inviting facial expression so ~~I~~ someone else that isn't me doesn't feel like they've raped the hand dryer.

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 2 points 11 months ago

They'd presumably be mounted high enough on the wall that you'd need a stepladder to reach it with your todger and that might be a bit obvious. However, the establishment might want to institute an "all basketball players must be accompanied to the gents" policy.

[-] Algaroth@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

That will only make them want it more.

[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago

And by "them" you mean...? 🤔

[-] Algaroth@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago
[-] Emperor@feddit.uk 2 points 11 months ago

No, no, definitely not. 🤔

[-] Iceman@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 months ago

You say that as if it’s a bad thing.

[-] Algaroth@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

It's more like a PSA.

[-] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 11 points 11 months ago

Worst. Urinals. Ever.

[-] Hillock@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago

Dyson built their reputation with the bagless vacuum cleaners. Which were amazing back in the day (because they were the only bagless ones).

And that wave of success carries them to this day.

[-] fluxion@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

"Objection! This is devastating to my case!"

[-] duckman@lemm.ee 6 points 11 months ago

Streisand Effect... I didn't even know about this at all lol

[-] Syldon@feddit.uk 1 points 11 months ago

First thing I thought.

[-] sirico@feddit.uk 5 points 11 months ago

If you act like a cunt, expect people to call you a.... altogether children

[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Well I'm sure he'll be able to bandage his wounds with rolls of the cash he's exploited out of the people.

[-] Syldon@feddit.uk 2 points 11 months ago

I don't think there are any cases of exploitation from Dyson. As much as I think he is a shithouse for what he did over Brexit, this claim has nothing to back it up AFAIK.

[-] Chouxfleur@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

If you're a billionaire you're exploiting people - It's literally impossible to become a billionaire without exploiting others.

[-] Treczoks@kbin.social 2 points 11 months ago

In the wake of what he has done to his country, it can't be harmful enough to his "reputation".
