NGL, I would probably have a panic attack at the lack of pies for the nameday feast. Like, did I volunteer to make those? Am I just organizing the feast and the baker fell through? Will I be forever known as the pie-less gnome who ruined the nameday feast? oh god, what kind of middle of nowhere podunk woodland doesn't have a costco? I just want to buy a few pies, is that too much to ask?!?!

Sounds so nice until you get a look up close. How's that goose loan working out? Think you'll have it finally paid off before the webbing is all worn down and it's time to go gosling shopping again? It shouldn't be a big deal, but then you had to take that second commercial loan -- honestly, it's time to just admit that the days of being able to afford space in the retail log as an independent cobbler are just gone post-covid, even with the name-day-sale traffic.

The nameday feast? Do people hold off on naming kids until the nameday?

it was a common thing in the past at least, where you didn't know if a child was going to survive a full year..
