This is what happens when you call everything socialism.

[-] NeighboursNeverNeighbors@lemmy.ca 2 points 13 hours ago

Yeah, the American "definition" of socialism often seems to just be everything left of fascism these days. It's really weird how America has weaponized the term.

[-] jimmy90@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

soooooooooooooooooooo true

not that socialism, no no no, the other cool one with all the stuff i like

why don't they specify DSA socialism and MAGA capitalism, that would be useful information

[-] ajoebyanyothername@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

I think you mean nearly half of democrats don't view socialism positively.

[-] ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip 23 points 1 day ago

And Jeffries took that personally.

[-] lemmy_at_em@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

I take Jeffries personally.

[-] stretch2m@infosec.pub 12 points 1 day ago

I sure wish they'd stop calling it socialism. But anyway, don't you just want to shake those "no opinion" people? How can you have no fucking opinion?

[-] hoppeduponcoffee@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If they take these polls via texts/mobile calls, that could be a portion of people they contact who don’t respond or decline to participate.

Regardless, I don’t trust polls anyway, especially when all of this is going to be used to justify the insurrection act anyway.

[-] lemmy_at_em@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

This is why we should rely only on prediction markets. Polling is an outdated technology.

We need to reclaim the word from the right, it's working

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 14 points 1 day ago

To be honest, most Americans have no idea what socialism is.

[-] lemmy_at_em@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That would be communistic in nature And I hear that that's against nature.

[-] Jspelts@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Right now I don't think either side is looking out for the average American citizen or the longevity of the country. My next vote is no confidence.

[-] 2hundredpancakes 10 points 1 day ago

Remember kids both parties are exactly the same, they've caused the same amount of damage, both hate gays and immigrants the same amount, both have destroyed the same amount of regulations on businesses that harm us. So don't bother voting because they're exactly the same. That'll fix things for sure.

[-] AA5B@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Both parties are blatantly corrupt, violate constitutional safeguards, both are rewriting history and reality, both parties cancelled infrastructure spending, both parties cancelled economic development and new energy projects, both parties cancelled student loan assistance ……

[-] Jspelts@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Both parties make their money by serving their puppet masters who steal money from us. The middle class used to capture 25% of GDP back in the 70's. Now we're lucky to capture 7%. And we've had plenty of politicians from both sides that just made the problem worse. It's not Dem's vs. Rep's, it's the rich enslaving the poor. Always has been, always will be.

[-] LuckyDevil@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

I will never understand this take.

[-] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago

I wonder how much such polls are going to be used by the Maga fascists to justify election interference and a new red scare.

[-] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

I wonder when you start fighting back

[-] theacharnian@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago
[-] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

Sorry for assuming, but no I didn't mean you specifically, I meant normie Americans.

[-] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

are you a normie USian? Are you doing something? Please share with the class what youve been up to, to help out.

[-] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

No. I'm not. Your president has threatened to invade my country. Death to America.

[-] 2hundredpancakes 3 points 1 day ago

Nonconfrontational

I watched the video to get an idea of what they were asking.

I'd be curious to see what the support was for the actual policies that are being labeled as socialism.

94% of democrats viewed Harris positively during the 2024 election.

[-] wyrmsbane@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

There is no way that is true. Harris sucked, and I voted for her. It's the other choice that was far, far worse. Dems were basically forced at gunpoint to vote Harris.

[-] notsure@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago

I am about as asocial as you can get, I would rather use a coarse bastard to flay my skin than talk to another human...i think socialism is better than capitalism. Take from that what you will.

[-] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

My family grew up in pure socialism. It's pretty shitty. Not defending capitalism, but I rather take capitalism over socialism anyday.

We honestly just need money out of politics. Overturn citizens united.

We honestly just need social policies out of politics. Overturn universal healthcare.

Finally the sane people actually expressing opinions?
