Mrwhoistheboss says that margin rose from 30 to 80% for memory companies and that the playstation price may increase from 400 to 1000. Does that really add up?

Its true, but we've seen some of the demand is artificial.

Different chip manufacturers are allegedly withholding stock of various parts and saying they dont have enough. Samsung and a bunch of other companies got caught in the early 2000's as part of a DRAM cartel and had to pay fines. There are rumors that this is happening again but im not sure if anything substantial has come to light yet

Supply and demand.

When there's not enough of something, the price goes up. This incentivizes someone to make more of it and put it out into the market, which in turn will drive the price back down.

The problem here is that there are very few places in the world with the capability of producing these higher end electronics and practically only 3 companies in charge of this. So, if they collude together as a "triopoly", they can artificially raise prices.

Gamers Nexus has a long documentary style video looking into the DRAM Cartel here:

Yes? Demand is through the roof from these shit ai companies and supply can’t scale as fast so prices go up. They’ve sold all their capacity through 2027 at these inflated prices they can basically charge whatever they want.
