I've taken naps and woken up at 6 and couldn't tell if it was AM or PM.
The petty movements of celestial bodies have no power here
Fuck fuck fuck I'm late for work by like 2 hours god damn gotta go eat breakfast and get the fuck out of here. Oh wait it's 8 pm.l
And then I go right back to sleep and I'm still tired when I wake up for work
That is exactly how I define a great nap as an adult. The more disoriented I wake up, the better.
One of the best naps I took in a while I woke up with my head at the foot of the bed. I did not go to sleep in that orientation.
I didn't wake up when my kitten snuck into the bed to cuddle. I'm not sure whether I should be happy I slept deeply or upset I missed a kitten cuddle

I'm nearly 40. I had analog watches in the early 90s set to 24h time.
I don't trust people who don't use it.
I've gotten up really early and played video games for a few hours and the saw a touch of light in the sky and panicked because it looked like evening and I thought I'd spent the whole day gaming and missed my afternoon flight, but actually it was just the sun coming up.
I’m 39 and still sometimes dream about being late for an exam and then wake up stressed and annoyed
I had a dream where I was back in school and when I woke up the sheer dread of knowing that I hadn't done my homework and Mr Mowlin was going to yell at me, and...
Then it hit me that I was an adult and hadn't been to school in decades, and it was genuinely the best feeling ever
Maybe we should be asking why school is genuinely traumatizing.
It does a good job preparing you for the traumatization of adulthood.
When I was like 21 my sister messed with me. I was taking a nap during summer break. She busted into my room and yelled, "get up! you're going to be late for the bus!" I almost had a heart attack and it took like a full minute to realize I hadn't taken the bus in 7 years, I was on summer break from college, and she was a total jerk.
And then you realized you are the teacher....
And you teach Sunday school…
And the church you teach at does bad coffee
And you fell asleep while teaching again.
Yes, and it doesn't happen often enough. That is top tier napping.
It's Sunday, yes, but...I'm 40? Uh-oh. Hooooly shit, I think I just took an 8 year nap.
