As long as there are alternatives, I’ll never buy an nvidia product again.

You can tell this image is AI because the guy has three arms but real people only have two
Also the too few fingers per hand.
Maybe he needed he still the other fingers for a gpu or Ram?
That's not an arm, but it is prehensile

Beat me to it!!! Classic!
I can't believe the company pulling through with affordable but powerful graphics cards is Intel.
This is like the season 1 bad guy joining forces against a greater evil.
Do Intel's GPUs still take a hard hit on Linux?
Nvidia did invest in Intel

The history of consumer computing is just looking at all the different ways Nvidia has figured out how to fuck said consumers over
Remember when we had to have a secondary nvidia GPU just to play games?
Remember all of the fucky hacks, install orders, and workarounds we needed to make it work when our main GPU was an AMD card?
Or when it was leaked for the 3rd time that nvidia was paying devs to make their game run worse on AMD hardware?
I don't think they really are out to fuck consumers so much as they are an after after thought.
The consumer space just isn't able to pay what companies are paying and so in the words of Don Draper - 'I don't think about you at all'
What is a bit of a dick move is their consumer division paying lip service and pretending like they matter to the company at all.
I think it's rather telling that there's not a single company that's touching any of these currently insanely overpriced products and going, you know? I think I'm going to prioritize the human customers over the business customers. Sure, we may not make as much money, but we would have truckloads of goodwill and generate thousands of lifelong customers.
And I understand the business reasoning for that, but great businesses are not built by bean counters any more than wars are decided by bullet rations.
Man... The way I see it is if you nail down a small corner of the market, you've won. Like yeah, you've only got 15%, but holy wah you have 15% all to yourself and that 15% is dedicated to you. That's a great outcome. Probably why I'm not a CEO.
Well, I guess I'll just buy my hardware from a different supplie-
sound of twin-engine B-52 Tariff Bomber zooming overhead, as wallet buster economic sanctions whistle towards their targets
My 2025 pc (before the ram price jumps) is all amd!
And its honestly pretty awesome
And 20gb vram is nice
Not that i think amd is a saint among these types of companies
But compared to Nvidia..?
AMD does the exact same as Nvidia. They're just less successful with it. It doesn't really matter who you buy from in that regard, I think.
Linux GPU drivers would like to have a word...
Is AMD that shit on Linux? Because Nvidia works perfectly fine for me.
Other way round. While NVIDIA works perfectly fine their drivers are proprietary, while AMD has open drivers.
AMD doesn't gate the high vram to be only their top end model. They have generally higher vram across the board.
Whether that's important or not is your choice as a consumer. If you use Blender for example, Nvidia gives you more bang for your buck. It just works much better with those cards. That's simply what the spread sheets say. If you need slightly higher VRAM for different reasons go for something else.
But that's completely besides the argument. Whatever you choose doesn't change the fact that neither of those companies gives a shit about us end consumers. They're barely making any money from us compared to AI companies. They're all in on AI.
yeah the main reason AMD isn't quite as price-gouged is that ROCm isn't quite as in demand as CUDA for non-gaming uses for GPUs.
That first middle finger went up in 2020 and never came down.
Yet people keeps buying their product. It's almost as if voting with your wallet is all that'll ever work.
Billionaires love when you think you can only vote with your wallet. They have many, many more votes than you. Nvidia doesn't give two shits about your wallet compared to the ones paying them to fill datacenters.
voting with your wallet
I'm terrified how many people think buying and selling stuff is moral, civic, and democratic duty. Econ 101 doesn't even work in economics, why are we applying it to everything?
We don't have the money to back up our vote in this 'election'. If you could even call it that. Capitalism isn't a democratic process.
If you havr the money for a Nvdia GPU, i think you have the money for an AMD or Intel GPU...
If you genuinely think they care about making a mere thousand bucks on a lumpy graphics card then you have been sleeping under a rock. Their costumers are Amazon, Microslop and Meta. Not you or me.
They would absolutely care if their audience flocked to AMD.
Graphics cards are still roughly ten percent of their revenue, that is not a lot, i'll give you that, but they are a stable income. When this AI demand inevitably dries up it would definitely still be in their interest to not have alienated the entire gaming community that made them in the first place and that Nvidia as of right now still dominate.
They won't be handing that to AMD. If for no other reason than to not give them the financial means to chase them down in the AI space as well.
Now, yes. Not 10-15 years ago. Not 20 years ago when GPGPU was still a rather obscure concept. The Nvidia problem isn't new regardless of how younglings and newly-enlightened seem to think so.
I am perfectly aware but that does not mean you should continue to buy from them, they still make money from them and they are evil as fuck also, when companies will inevitably start to buy less from Nvidia, it will be a problem for them
Okay so you've been sleeping under a rock so let me explain. You're basically saying to not buy GPUs full stop because all those companies are terrible. But even if Nvidia sold 0 consumer GPUs for the rest of the year it wouldn't affect them. Virtually all their stock value comes from the industry going full AI slop and no consumer choice we make with our tiny baby wallets can make them change course now. There is not enough money in the end consumer PC parts market for them to actually care because AI companies pay them so much more.
So paying the worst of the worse companies is okay for you? Hell nah, that's bullshit
Also, the AI bubble will not survive forever, it will eventually end and if Nvidia loses it's place in the consumer market, it will be half dead
Nvidia isn't the worst of the worst so as long as intel exists. And what makes you think others aren't just as focused on AI anyway? Seems like a gross oversight on your part. You should look into those other companies when you find the time.
Well, I did my part at least.
The sales of consumer GPUs make up a veeeery tiny percentage of nvidias revenue. Nvidia could stop selling consumer GPUs tomorrow and it wouldn't even make a noticeable dent in their revenues. And what other options do u really have? Any other company ain't much better.
Nowadays, yes. Wasn't this way 10-15 years ago. I've been against their practices enough to not buy their product these last 20 years, which feels like a very lonely hill to die on.
I think I bought my gaming rig on whim with 32gig and Nvidia before the shitty RAM prices at least.
Even in 24 or so it sucked how much of the total price the medium awesome gfx card was.
How much is this now, do these cards exist? Artificial scarcity?
just orderd amd videcard 20 years nividia 4 difrant computers last one lasted 8 or 10 years 1060 ad now amd 7090 feels rong but fuck nividia not listing to gamers and going ale in on ai and data vcenters
