And? It's somehow less relevant now?

[-] EveryMuffinIsNowEncrypted 7 points 3 weeks ago

It's not that it's less relevant, only that it's not generally considered good form in terms of web etiquette.

You can disagree if you wish (you are entitled to that right), but that is how it currently is usually.

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 4 points 3 weeks ago

Etiquette trumps having an ever-looming reality. Smh

False binary.

In any case, like I said, you can disagree with the etiquette if you wish, but that is the ettiquette. So one shouldn't be surprised when people disapprove of one breaking it.

[-] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 weeks ago

Is this "etiquette" written down somewhere, or are you just using the word etiquette to describe your personal opinions about what you were hoping to read today?

I think that's the point..

All smartphones can be infected, and surveilled/controlled without pressing/downloading anything malicious. Israeli "security" companies (NSO among others) have been selling this malware for many years, to intelligence depts. Around the globe. Probably what got Khashoggi back when.

no dog in the "conflict"

very poorly informed on the matter

I somehow struggle to believe that you can possibly be poorly informed on the most livestreamed genocide in the history of humanity

[-] jjlinux@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 weeks ago

And we instantly switch to political bullshit. I also have no fucking clue about the Palestine situation. Yeah, I hear people mention it, and I find stuff about it while going over completely unrelated stuff, and I choose to remain ignorant in the topic because I refuse to add more stress to my life unless there is no other option. You choose to care/follow the topic? Good for you, enjoy OT, I don't.

[-] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 24 points 3 weeks ago

Imagine calling a genocide simply political bullshit, lol. How privileged you must be.

Not the same person. I don't read the news, and I try not to watch genocides. I'm poorly informed about most politics and pretty happy about it to be honest. Sounds like they should probably stop genociding, that's usually a bad thing to do. But I'm not going to pretend I know what's actually happening over there or that I can do anything about it.

I'm conflicted whether I should up vote or down vote your comment

[-] SocialistVibes01@lemmy.ml 26 points 3 weeks ago

Downvote

Dude is oblivious to a genocide and has no sides on the matter

This is as evil as one can be

[-] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, not being against genocide is pretty damn evil.

[-] halloejsovs@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

How the fuck did you come to that conclusion??!

Time and place, this wasn't it. Bibi needs to face the ICC and Israel are commiting genocide.

But don't forget that Hamas are a terrorist organization, and the Palestinian state oppress their own people by social control.

Does that validate oppression and crimes against gumanity,? Of course not.

Are you happy?

When you grow up, you will realize the world is not l Black and white.

[-] Nonconfrontational@lemmy.ml 10 points 3 weeks ago

Would you call the Warsaw ghetto uprising a terrorist organization?

Hamas has many problems but that's all they have. Israel helped to create Hamas.

There, your so beloved nuanced take. But one that doesn't disarm the oppresed people being systematically erased by evil colonizers and their critical supporters like you.

October 2015 article. I guess he was still leaking knowledge at that point. A different time in some ways, but theres been little progress in others.

Posting old-ass articles like this without a disclaimer should be against the rules.

On these communities and the source articles themselves. I bloody hate when the only way to find a date for reference is to find another article (or maybe dig through the site's code).

Let me introduce me to my lord and saviour: #airplanemode

"Excuse me Mrs. we cannot pick up a smartphone signal near you. Could you please turn on your smartphone for us ?"

"Ah it's on. But in AIRPLANE MODE !" "oh no !"

[-] non_burglar@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

You should look up "baseband radio vulnerabilities".

It is still unknown how many radios have code that might allow a back door similar to Intel's mgmt engine. But the firmware blobs are all closed, and very few ppl know what they actually contain.

If you don't want to be tracked, get an open platform device.

And in light of the tools out there that can fingerprint you by a lot of metrics, if you truly don't want to be tracked, at all, don't use connected technology.
