Just read/watch The Expanse /j
I heard good things about that , would you say its better than firefly ?
Having only watched a couple episodes of Firefly and the movie Serenity, I wouldn't say "better" but different.
Serenity/Firefly is slightly softer sci-fi, while I'd say The Expanse is fairly hard sci-fi. Expanse, at least in the books, they actually go weeks and months in space between stops and make it a point to tell you; while from what I remember in Serenity they treat going to another planet as going on a couple days road trip.
Firefly is better imo, but it does have the "advantage" of only having had one very good season. Would Firefly have kept the same quality or better over 6 seasons? Who knows. We've all seen shows with excellent first seasons that later drop in quality (Altered Carbon for example). Regardless, The Expanse is a great sci-fi show that is at least worth trying out if you liked Firefly.
They're also different enough that people will disagree on taste.
The worldbuilding of the expanse is head and shoulders better than Firefly. But Firefly's strength was characters: the writing and acting made the crew so loveable. I like the crew of the Roc, but I never felt the same level of connection to them.
But Amos is my boy. I love Amos Burton.
He is That Guy.
The boner the internet has for Firefly means I’ll get dragged for this, but The Expanse was by far the better story overall.
That being said, I enjoyed Firefly a lot. But the world building, character arcs, political intrigue, etc was just immensely more immersive in The Expanse. Especially goes if you read the entire series. The show was great, the books were also great and well, expanded, the story. Highly recommend.
Firefly had a lot of potential, but never got into the meat.
The Expanse was able to work through the whole story, except for the last book.
I think they're both good, but the Expanse was better since it has a more modern story, and a lot more episodes.
I wouldn't bother pitting then against each other. They're very different, but if you like Firefly, you should check out The Expanse.
Personally, though, I recommend the books. I watched the first few episodes of the show first and was underwhelmed, but then checked out the books and was hooked right away.
We have put down every single rebellion against our country thus far and also stole about 1.37 million km of land from Mexico. An internal secession is not realistic at all.
Except for the one successful one. We just celebrated its birthday actually.
Lol fair
Don't think "breakaway region" think "100-billion+ dollar tax exempt hedge fund that is also one of the largest private landholders and has a massive PR budget"
They already have everything they want working the system from inside
No. And not likely at all.
I mean anything is possible, however those are two very unlikely pairings. Iran is majority Islam. Mormons believe in the christian trinity (though not the way normal christians believe in them).
Different gods, diffefent religious texts, different religious practices. They both like to oppress women in the name of god, but, so do most religions, so I doubt that's enough to form a solid enough of a bond to convince the Mormons to attack the usa. I'm a former mormon, so one little fun fact, the usa is the mormon's holy land. They believe the second coming is going to happen in Missouri, and they own large swaths of land there where they believe Jesus will decend.
Yeah I know a decent number from Missouri
That's a weird hypothetical.
