I don’t have much to say, I just want to say I fucking love every single one of you ladies, trans, and enby friends in this community. The amount of support I see going on here is fucking phenomenal and I love you all for that!

Special shout out to velma, banana, sharkweek, and a few others I’ve replied to or had replies from recently. And of course the lovely LadyButterfly who gets so many convos started with your posts. Too many wonderful people here to type out all y'alls names.

I fucking love all of you so much and I hope you are all having a wonderful year 💚

Heck yeah and welcome! The support I’ve seen on that thread is wonderful 💚

Even when we don’t agree, folks here are so kind about it.

It's so refreshing!

My workplace still hasn’t given me my actual badge yet, I’m on my third week here. Everyday when I clock in I have to find the security guard to make them give me a temp badge, then have to find them at the end of my shift so I can get whatever I traded for a temp badge back.

You’d think it’d be important for an EVS tech to have their own badge quickly so I don’t have to wait for at least half an hour each shift. But guess they don’t want me to have it easy for the first few weeks. I’m lucky I at least have another EVS tech to work with so she can get me around till the security guard can get me a temp badge. So frustrating having to deal with this, literally typed this up while waiting on the security guard to come to his office.

Had a funny conversation last night with a 25 year old lad who had had a little too much to drink. He was from the countryside (so, no internet), and has only been working in a city for a couple of weeks.

I think it was the first time he'd ever talked to someone "alternative" and he just kept digging himself into a hole.

He tried chatting me up gently (complimented my tattoos, hand on my knee, etc), I pointed out my wedding ring. He asked about my husband, I told him about my wife. He asked if I planned on having kids, and I told him my son is now 33 years old ...

Bless him, he was so not prepared for any of my answers, and got a little flustered.

These are such fun interactions if you have the mental/emotional capacity for them lol. I'll bet he learned a lot that day!

[-] SharkWeek 3 points 3 days ago

Yeah, I found it amusing and more than a little sweet :-)

I’m bothered, unmoisturized and not in my lane. That is all I feel like I can say these days.

[-] SharkWeek 7 points 6 days ago

Sorry to here that ... anything in particular, or just *gestures at everything* making you feel that way?

[-] Kittywifclaws@piefed.world 9 points 6 days ago

Oh it’s everything. I’m just very tired of keeping the peace so things can keep going. At work, with family. It’s eggshells everywhere and becoming exhausting. It was always there before gestures but it’s at 11 now.

[-] SharkWeek 6 points 6 days ago

Shiiit, I know that feeling. It's like slow suffocation.

Is there any way to reduce contact with some of the people whose emotions you're having to manage?

[-] Kittywifclaws@piefed.world 5 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Mostly it’s working for people who don’t think as I do and holding my tongue. Gonna bite it off. Figured other people are suffering this also. Gotta keep the job, you know? All the retroactive hugs for when you experienced this.

[-] Meatwagon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 5 days ago

Tell me about it. They just made the announcement that they're putting up the forced 10 commandments bullshit at my work and I want to react, but literally can't without losing my job. We can't even have political signage up in our years and publicly make any statements.

[-] SharkWeek 2 points 5 days ago

Do you now get to point to the exact commandment being broken on any given day by someone important to them?

[-] SharkWeek 2 points 5 days ago

Ugh, yes, working for people who believe you should be sent to hell is very hard on the spirit.

Have you got an escape plan?

Thanks for the retroactive hugs :-)

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 14 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

I know I shouldn't be shocked by misogyny and I shouldn't get into internet slap fights, etc.

But holy fucking shit. I didn't expect to fully run into grown ass men here on Lemmy who are "genuinely baffled and in disbelief" that women over 55+ can be fit and attractive.

[-] SharkWeek 4 points 6 days ago

On some instances there's no shortage of men who live up to negative stereotypes :-/

Feel free to point me at any fit and sexy 55+ women, lol

[-] SharkWeek 2 points 5 days ago

That looks more like a puppy pile than a queue ... but ok

[-] velma@sh.itjust.works 5 points 6 days ago

It didn’t take very many comments before I was called a “shit person” for acknowledging attractive middle aged women exist lol

Says way more about them than myself, but cheese on a cracker…. that’s a dumb view to perpetuate.

[-] SharkWeek 4 points 6 days ago

How dare you challenge their entrenched and blinkered world view!!

Yesterday I was a bit stressed but channeled the energy into productivity. Today I just have a headache. I need to take my kid to a playground but nothing to far because ow.

Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.
