I am sure this is totally healthy...

Don't even know what to do on it half the time. But wtf else can I do? I can't really play a game, I'm at work. But there isn't much to do so scroll on my phone. It's an activity I can drop immediately if needed and doesn't seem to look as bad as if I was playing CDDA.

I know it’s not much, but can you maybe walk around the office and act like you’re going to meetings or something? At least you can get some steps in. You can also listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks on headphones while walking around.

for activities that can be dropped immediately if needed i recommend crochet :)

you can make so many cool things even when you work only in very small bursts between other tasks!

i've been making summer hats lately

My wife has recently picked up crochet for a similar reason.

She’s on maternity leave and needed something she could pick up and put down quickly. She’s having a great time.

I work in an office, don't think that would be a good choice sadly.

??? Most of the best crochet stuff that I have was made by people working in offices vita literally the perfect activity for working in an office, what do you mean?

[-] TheFlopster@lemmy.world 7 points 1 hour ago

You might have been doing something work-related on your phone. There's no plausible deniability of that if you're crocheting.

I have the same problem. I can't read a book or knit in the office, even if there's downtime. Because the higher-ups can't know there's downtime. It's our disgusting corporate culture that's stopping me.

Probably some managers don’t like it.

Ouh, do you have any good straw hat pattern?

[-] shneancy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

i started with a pattern but halfway through i began winging it lol! i can describe my process when i get home though

[-] Shellbeach@lemmy.world 1 points 32 minutes ago

I know this pattern, lol. I followed it many many times

Just play without sprites. They'll be crowning you employee of the month for how deep in the numbers you look like

[-] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 hours ago

CDDA has sprites?

Half joking, I do often play it over SSH though.

[-] testaccount789@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 hour ago

What's CDDA? I thought you were talking about listening to music (Compact Disc Digital Audio).

Cataclysm: Dark days ahead

Also check out their specs if you are worried gaming will become impossible with RAM prices.

[-] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago

Well, yes and no. When I shut down the laptop at night, I'm putting away Lemmy and videogames. When I pick up my phone immediately after, it's to read Wikipedia in dark mode until I feel sleepy enough, like it's some kind of nerdy bedtime story.
