Perhaps I can save someone else the time of doing a reverse image search:

This portrait is showing English poet Christopher Anstey with his daughter Mary Ann and was painted by William Hoare, circa 1776. It‘s on display in room 18 on floor 3 at London‘s National Portrait Gallery.

Oh, thank God, I was worried it was going to be something heartbreaking, like the painting was commissioned after the little girl had tragically died from scarlet fever or some such. Everything's fine.

She died in 1829 at the age of 66, a ripe old age back then!

Best thing to happen in 1776.

So glad they all have 5 fingers on their hands.

[-] MoffKalast@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

The doll only has three fingers, clearly AI generated /s

[-] Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org 5 points 4 days ago

OK. Nothing wrong with AI generated dolls.

Unless.... hmm... if the doll itself has built-in AI, and is now generating lots and lots more such dolls...

It's a lot of work to go through just to show your teenager's friends embarrassing pictures of her, but it's worth it!

Any more context?? I wanna show this to my own very distracting daughter

Satirist?

Yes, he defiantly gives 'straight man' vibes in that picture.

If you make fun of people while poor, you are called an asshole and likely put in prison for targetingthe wrong person, doing the same shit while being wealthy, you are called a "satirical poet".

[-] k0e3@lemmy.ca 13 points 4 days ago

This is a really stupid question, but did the man and his daughter pose like that for hours?

[-] ViatorOmnium@piefed.social 33 points 4 days ago

People didn't always have to pose for a long time. A common technique would be to do a quick sketch or series of sketches and then doing the final painting without the subject.

It is quite easy to fill in the details from a smartphone photo after all.

[-] realitista@lemmus.org 7 points 4 days ago

Just have AI do it

I would guess that they posed in a normal upright position. The artist could have turned the canvas a little.
