Finding Nemo is not Halal. Where is Dory's hijab?

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

... Dory is a fish.

Why would a fish need to follow instructions given to humans?

[-] JennaR8r@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 days ago

Because it's a cartoon in which all the fish are speaking English, engaged in human activities & personalities & situational drama just like humans.

... Are the fish Muslim?

As part of their acting like humans?

Also, generally speaking, fish are halal to eat.

So there's no reason for a non muslim fish to either literally not be halal, as food, nor abide by muslim dress code, as a 'person', who does not appear to be muslim.

The widely varying different standards of Islamic Dress Codes != Halal.

To conflate the two would be like asking if a Yarmulke is Kosher. Its ... nonsensical.

This is peak content. May the light of Allah shine upon Dory and guide her to the truth, inshallah.

If the fish aren't Muslim then perhaps that poster up there should not be advertising the movie night as "Halal" 🤭

No you don't get it.

Halal, most literally, means basically 'approved'.

In this context, its essentially 'Family Friendly'.

Inshallah basically means 'Godwilling', genuine, earnest hope that the family is reunited.

I wonder if anything is going on anywhere in the Muslim world where a story about a family being able to reunite would be a resonant and uplifting story.

Again, there's nothing inherently forbidden about ... non Muslims existing, and not particularly following all the rules that apply to Muslims... in the view of the vast majority of Muslims.

Most of the people in this thread are being bigotted by way of presumably ignorance.

And I'm a kafir, a dhimmi, an Atheist, who just likes to learn about different cultures and religions.

It's not the movie, it's the families should be halal!

[-] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

So they can be eaten with no risk of Allah taking offense?

[-] Tiral@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Well, typically you eat the fish not the families, but I guess you could?

[-] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

🤔 Semi-serious question, is she still required to cover her head if she has no hair?

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago

Inshallah they find her. There was no Finding Nemo 2, just Finding Dory.

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Not to sound old-fashioned, but I wish Dory wouldn't flaunt it so, all the goods hanging out for the world to see.

Lawful to you is the game of the sea and its food as provision for you and the travelers

✅Certified Halal

(Though some people also follow the kosher restrictions for seafood, much like some Christians do)

Wait, so Shallah ... ate Nemo?!

[-] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 1 points 1 day ago

Personally, I prefer Haram & Chill

[-] napkin2020@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago

Did you know?

Halal ETFs are real thing.

[-] Rugnjr 12 points 2 days ago

Halal finance is an entire massive industry. Because taking interest is a sin in islam (based), and used to be in Christianity too. Ursury.
