Trump has never done his own taxes. He genuinely does not understand how taxes work on any level.

[-] osanna@lemmy.vg 3 points 11 hours ago

Which is all the more strange given he’s in charge of one of the biggest economies in the world.

A friend of mine, who is better off than I am, told me that I should always itemize. Itemizing does nothing for me. I don't have enough deductions to offset taxes. I don't have a mortgage, my charitable donations are like $200 a year. The tax breaks I want are no tax for war purposes and no tax for ICE purposes.

It saddens me that this cunt isn't dead yet.

He literally sold his first term tax bill by touting people only having to take standard deduction under his plan. No more exhausting deductions! He eliminated a dozen or so deductions that middle class people used. SALT being the most notable.

He would hold up a piece of paper "this is it! You only have to fill out this ONE form!"

Now he's making fun of them. They fell for it, and he doesn't even remember that scam. Only remembers that they're stupid. Because, Trump Cult, you're stupid.

Shades of bush not knowing how grocery store bar code scanners work…

Trump’s own tax policies both increased the standard deduction and restricted itemized deductions. Not only that, but most average to low income Americans don’t have enough of the kind of deductible expenses that would make itemized deductions the better choice over standard.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA)slightly increased the standard deduction…

The The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) eliminated or restricted many itemized deductions for 2018 through 2025. This, together with a higher standard deduction, reduced the number of taxpayers who itemize deductions…

Someone should really have done it by now.

You really feel like you deserve an answer, don't you?

[-] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

I didn't expect one tbh. Cowards who tell others to take action while doing nothing themselves don't tend to have thought things through at all.

Not to defend Dementia Donnie here...but as a New Yorker, he probably knows them as bodegas?

Also fuck him, ofc poor people don't know deductions. We can't show 0 income while hiding our assets like his island friends.

[-] WhoIsTheDrizzle@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

He wouldn't because he's never had to buy anything himself in his life.

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Just McDonald’s. And mostly delivered by PA’s.

I live in Michigan where we'll call them party stores and corner stores, and I still know what a bodega is. No point in defending him, he's really just an idiot.

[-] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

He doesn't know any store. He claims he invented the word "groceries" and then told a story about an old woman who wanted three apples but couldn't afford it so she "put one of the apples back in the refrigerator". He also says that we have to show ID to buy groceries.

He knows nothing and we have to suffer for it everyday. It's not bad enough that they are evil but they are also so godamned stupid
