Personally I prefer Cholula over Tapatio for my "generic flavorful hot sauce that isn't actually hot at all so I can slather it on everything" but Tapatio was pretty decent too.
Valentina was my go to, but the grocery near me no longer carries it.
I really like the original flavor cholula but any of their other ones have this artificial plasticky taste I can't quite identify.
My favorite cheap one that can go on everything is el yucateco. Some of those even bring some heat without raising the price.
I think I've only had the original Cholula. Now I know to avoid the others :)
Have you had the El Yucateco "El Caribe"? I can't find it very often in local stores but it's damn awesome - by far my favorite. ... Assuming they still make it and haven't changed it. It's probably been 4 years since I bought one because I tend to stock up when I find it.

Yeah I ordered it I think last year. First time I had it and it was really good. You can get a mix and match box of 6 on their website and it's a little more than buying in stores (I think) but you can get flavors I've never seen on shelves anywhere.
