she hasnt been doing well in hollywood as of late , saw on her dexter as a background character. BUFFY reboot wasnt going to work, since the OG series and angel ended on a proper ending.

compare that to sabrina the "sitcom" and the more"mature version" took different directions with better material.

If they would just stop it with the reboot shit and instead just make a new show featuring a different slayer, then they can sort of shuffle the plot of the original show about and make it their own new special thing at little to no extra effort.

Creativity is dead, so here's a freebie: The Slayer and her Watcher end up in an abandoned house which is supposedly haunted. First night there introduces a ghost who was sacrificed by a cult to raise a demon out of hell. Instantly three characters in the show. One might even call it a gang. Someone from the old cult returns to the house, gets their behind handed to them by the Slayer. They were the boyfriend of the ghost, and repent upon being congronted with the unlive of their former gf, so you get your witchy demon worshipper in the party and an impossible love situation everyone goes for. Meanwhile the local vamps aren't too happy with the Slayer moving onto their turf and wake up an elderly vampire who was snoozing for the better part of the past century and has plans to make his clan feared again. Unfortunately his grandson and the Slayer meet while out and about and hit it off (Buffy & Angel-style).

You can pull season 1 out of that with little effort.

From the article:

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale,” would have starred Ryan Kiera Armstrong as the new slayer, with original series star Gellar reprising her role as Buffy in a recurring capacity.

I think the article is flawed in calling this a "reboot", since it was supposed to be exactly what you asked for: a new show focused on a different character, in the same continuity of the previous show. But the point is moot, given that it's dead now anyway.

Isn't that just a soft reboot?

[-] Yeller_king@reddthat.com 2 points 7 hours ago

It's a revival.

You didn't read anything did you?

[-] BryyM@lemmy.world 19 points 15 hours ago

I think it is most likely a good thing as the elements I remember from the shows end just doesn't fit well into any good plot I can think of

What does she mean by you can still beep me?

Surly it's not fuck right?

Does it mean page?

[-] humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 12 points 10 hours ago

Yes, back in my day, it was slang for paging someone, similar to “ring me” for calling.

It’s also a reference to the show. Buffy wanted to go on a date and Giles was all “but epic responsibility!” and she convinced him she can do both and said “if the apocalypse comes, beep me.

I'm currently watching buffy with my wife in tandem with Angel i don't recall that happening, though we watch it after work after our son gets to bed so I often fall asleep and miss am episode here and there

It was in a very fall-asleep-worthy episode (1x05 Never Kill a Boy on the First Date).

Warning! season 1 spoilers that don’t matter at all for any plot arcs:

Buffy goes on a date with Owen, then breaks up with him because her life is too dangerous. The “anointed one” is revealed to be a creepy (but awesome) vampire kid. End of episode.

Ah and we're in season 6 now I think too so it was a whole ago since watching that

[-] aramis87@fedia.io 7 points 13 hours ago

Yes, if an actual Apocalypse occurs, you can beep / page / text her.
