FBI Director Kash Patel called the partnership a “tremendous opportunity for our FBI agents to learn and train with some of the greatest athletes on earth” and said it will help the bureau “be even better prepared to protect the American people.”

What a fucking imbecilic jackass he is.

You can now spot undercover agents by listening for their entrance music.

The only thing that surprises me is that they didn't choose WWE 🤣

Article doesn't say anything about what anyone is getting paid or by who. Why is this fraud, abuse or waste? Seems like a seminar about hand to hand combat is being put on for a group of people who are/should be trained in hand to hand combat. With the trainers being some of the most skilled in the world. If it is explained that this is significantly more expensive than typical market rate seminars, sure that sucks. But, the article doesn't specify anything like that. This exact thing has happened dozens of times with different athletes and different military/police forces in the US under different presidents dem and rep. I remember a long time ago Kenny Florian or Carlos condit was doing a training for special forces guys. The Gracies have also done a fuck load of training for various military/police organizations. There are tons more examples but nobody will feel any less strongly if I list them.

Edit to add sources of this happening since 2002

Ha ha, you think ufc fighters are the most qualified to teach agents? I've an exciting investment opportunity for you, if Dana is not in front of me in line pal.

To coach/teach martial arts.... yes... many of them have already been coaches/teachers for more than a decade. Thats how martial arts works. Definitely more qualified to teach that than an NBA/NFL player is to teach a leadership conference (the government has paid 6 figures for that many times).

[-] hector@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

The armed forces know how to fucking fight bro.

[-] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Did someone teach them or were they born that way? Are you considering the FBI a branch of the military? Do you think after the initial training they ever do any subsequent training? Have you googled if this has ever happened before? You're saying dumb shit acting like its smart and obvious.

[-] hector@lemmy.today 5 points 2 days ago

The government can hire it's own martial arts teachers. It's preposterous to endorse this corruption.

[-] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Thats literally what is happening for a seminar.... This has happened dozens of times since 2002 at least. You can look it up. If they are getting paid an exorbitant fee, sure, like I said, that sucks. But these are some of the most competent people possible to teach a hand to hand combat seminar. You dont like Trump, thats fine, me either. That doesn't make these guys a poor option for a one off training seminar and it definitely doesn't make it fraud or corruption. If he was paying his son, daughter, hanger on or Dana White to teach the seminar, sure, I'd agree with you.

Giving a job to an unqualified pal campaign donor to "teach" an organization that wrote the book on martial arts, is indeed corruption. Your opinion is laughable, I've an exciting investment opportunity for you, seeing as you are so gulible.

[-] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You're saying the FBI wrote THE book on martial arts?...... Anything to say about the fact I brought up this has happened dozens of times in the past with different pro fighters or athletes under different presidents? This isn't a new thing and its far from the first time the US government has contracted pro athletes to train its military and/or police force. Again this has happened WITH THE UFC prior under Obama, Bush, Biden and Trump.... it's just being extra publicized right now because its easy to farm engament/hate. You're the gullible one for falling for the idea this is a new thing that Trump is doing and getting stirred up by it. You can google it, you have the power. Was it fraudulent corruption under the other presidents too? I hate Trump and hes doing plenty of corrupt, immoral and evil things. This isn't one of them. Making a big deal about it just weakens the argument you have about his actual misdeeds if you were to try and argue with a conservative. I'll say again because you've ignored it every other time, this EXACT thing has happened under the last four presidents you care now strictly because that dumb fucks name is associated....The US special forces used the Gracies (famous from the UFC) to assist in further development of their hand to hand combat program. You can look in the career section or google the modern army combatives program. Bas Rutten, Tim Kennedy, Matt Sera, Randy Couture and the Gracies have all made careers off running training courses or seminars for the US military or police since the early 2000s.

The armed forces and security services yes, they know more about fighting that ufc douchebags.

[-] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Aside from that blatently misinformed, ignorant and objectively false statement. Anything to say about all the times its been done on the past ? Or about how nearly all branches of the military and police hand to hand training is literally created by those "UFC douche bags" (Gracie combatives, GST, MACP and GRAPLE).
