So basically Trump is now in charge of CNN. This timeline keeps hitting new lows.

consolidation of state sponsored media. a fun stage of fascism.

[-] assembly@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago

I guess it is a fun stage considering the next ones are worse.

“Superior”.

Translation: “Pushed by the Trump administration.”

Literally, it's Disney vs fascism now.

Larry Ellison:

  • CBS
  • Paramount
  • CNN
  • Warner Brothers
  • TikTok

Elon Musk:

  • Xitter

Jeff Bezos:

  • Washington Post
  • MGM

Disney verses fascism?

I don't like to be the bearer of bad news but there will be no 'versus', Disney will be 'hand in glove with' fascism ~~Larry Ellison is a good friend of Trump's, and has been assisted by him, and assisted him many times.~~

I totally got confused as to whom the main owner of Disney shares was. My bad!

However, with over two-thirds of Disney shares owned by large banks and financial institutions, I would not be expecting Disney to remain an ally against fascism and the MAGA movement for long.

Huh? Larry Ellison doesn't own Disney. That's literally the point I'm making. Disney is the only American media conglomerate left that is not in bed with fascism.

EDIT: I forgot about NBC/Universal...as did everyone else.

Oh.. totally my bad. I thought Ellison has significant Disney ownership but I had it wrong, I think I read that he was probing a hostile takeover of Disney last year and then misremembered it as a done-deal.

I'll double-check my sources next time.

Wonder if we’ll still get James Cameron coming out against consolidation. If we had a functioning FTC neither deal would be approved.
