It annoys me how most dvd/cd games came with a code or you have to pay a crazy amount for retro titles. im looking for game si can test on a 32 bit, 2gb of ram pc or even turn it into a retro gaming machine. i have a bunch of blank dvd's laying around so should i put some on a dvd by chance. where do i even find retro games that can be put on a dvd for free?

also feel free to add anything if needed.

My Abandonware is always a good place for me to find old stuff. Free to download, lots of titles and platforms.

Well, my top games there would be the LucasArts Adventures like Monkey Island 1+2 and Indiana Jones Last Crusade + Fate of Atlantis. But also Sierra Adventures, Prince of Persia, SimCity... (all DOS games, that's the only thing I had). Lots of other games I forgot right now, and everyone probably has their own top picks, too.

If you'd like to talk about older games, feel free to pop in at !patientgamers@sh.itjust.works

As for retro games, GOG was fantastic for this, but their current launcher is a significant downgrade over the old one, I could reference locations to find these games that are hard to even buy, but I don't know what is allowed on this instance.

There are two instances that would be great to discuss this further, one is FMHY and the other is dbzer0.

that is good to know

The good thing about GOG is basically everything retro doesn't need that launcher if you don't like it. 8 myself, haven't had any problems with it though.

That being said, I've run in to too many games that were fixed for Win7/8, but not touched since Win10 came out and I had to get refunds, which is not an ideal system with GOG.

Besides GOG, which has been mentioned in other comments, there's also Zoom Platform (basically Good Old Games 2.0) and Project EGG {Japanese store/kinda preservation project (kinda since it uses some basic DRM) for games mainly from non-MS-DOS PCs}.
