Fallout - Great show, maintains the whimsical theme of the games. The writing is good.

PLUR1BUS - Very well written plot and dialogue. It's from the same creators of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

I started watching Slow Horses last week, just finished season 3, not as good as the previous seasons imo but still really good.

[-] gustofwind@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Like most shows it starts strong and kinda fizzles away

[-] IWW4@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

I have dumped the show in the fifth season. I don’t think it has gone downhill or anything it just runs its course for me.

[-] zaphod@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 month ago

I thought the fifth season was among the best seasons of the show.

[-] IWW4@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Like I said nothing has changed about the show. I am just seen enough of what it has to offer.

You can’t laugh at the same joke over and over again.

Two ongoing shows:

The Pitt. I think e4 drops today so I will be checking it out tonight. It is just so good.

Fallout. I have seen two episodes of this season and I am really enjoying it.

A new one I have started this week.

Wayward. Tony Collette is just excellent in everything she does and she continues that in this show. It is an interesting setup, it is about a residential teenager treatment center located in a New England town. Clearly there is some nefarious stuff going on.

Documentaries I have check out:

The Takedown: American Aryans

This is meh. It is very much copganda and I dumped it in the third episode. The focus is on a prison gang in Texas called The Aryan Brotherhood.

The gang is the bag of horrors and grimey shit one would expect from anyone who would call themselves that. The most remarkable thing about the show and gang is the organizational structure.

The gang is lead by five guys with the title General and they divide the state into regions. Each General has subordinate majors and lieutenants. When I dumped the show all the Generals except one was in prison and the fifth was about to sent to prison for a murder.

Tony Collette is just excellent in everything she does - can’t agree more. She is one of the best of a generation and seems pretty low key with it. Still love an occasional view of Murial.

[-] IWW4@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

And she totally doesn’t fit the norm of Hollywood leading ladies looks etc. She is one of the few that I will check a more or show out just because her name is on it.

Rewatch or 1st time? DS9 is my favorite for premise and execution.

[-] gustofwind@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

First time and it’s absolutely excellent

[-] reddig33@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

If the Kurtzman era ever ends, it would be great to see a new crew having to take the station out of mothballs when some interstellar crisis erupts.

I'm watching Mad Men for the first time right now. It's pretty good.

Also watching Frasier for the 27th time.

Also watching Frasier for the 27th time.

This doesn't count as "seeing a psychiatrist"!

[-] WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

It's the closest I can afford

[-] Aralakh@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

Just finished watching Counterpart. Learned about it from another thread, it was so bloody good!

I've started rewatching Forever Knight (1992). I love these syndicated 90's shows and this one has absolutely everything you need to know in the title alone. He's a vampire, so he lives Forever, he was a 13th century Knight, being a vampire he can only come out at Night (pun!) so his life is Forever in Night, and he's now a 20th century cop, so arguably he will Forever be a Knight. This is absolutely a "book you can judge by its cover", it's exactly what you expect it to be, and it's the single greatest show title in the history of syndicated TV.

Oh man, I remember that show. I used to like it. I bet it is a bit hard to deal with the SD. What platform is it on?

[-] Jack_Burton@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Good old DVD. You'll adjust quick, it's a big part of its charm.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End -- season 1 was wonderful, and season 2 has been great so far.

[-] riskable@programming.dev 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Kunon the Sorcerer Can See is also an absolutely fantastic anime this season. It looks like a typical low-effort, power fantasy anime but it's actually got some of the best writing I've seen in ages!

My other thoughts on this season: Cursed VS Curses is a total shit show but Plants VS Ninjas is a decent continuation of the first season.

[-] veeesix@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Started watching the new Wonder Man show. Ben Kingsley is so friggin fun to watch!

[-] LambdaRX@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

I have finished Dark it was wonderful series, although third season could use some additional episodes. In addition to meticulously crafted complex story, this show has some amazing casting choices.

[-] yessikg@fedia.io 3 points 1 month ago

I watched the first season of Mademoiselle Holmes - so fun, can't wait for season 2 to get exported. Finished season 3 of Munch - I'm going to stop there and not watch the last 2 seasons because they kill off one of my fave characters in season 4. The good thing is that season 3 is a good place to stop watching. Promethea aka Prométhée (2022) - I don't want to give away anything but I really liked the way this show went.

[-] sam@break3.social 3 points 1 month ago

I've been watching Grand Design and trying to finish off Season 2 of Peacemaker.

The next show to start is Suits, seems like a great show from the bits I've seen and could be good.

[-] thejoker954@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

If you like actors who chew the scenery Suits is great. Also Billions is a good show for that as well.

If you have trouble letting go of your suspension of disbelief I wouldn't recommend either shows - neither are realistic in any way.

Ohh I really liked Station 11. It's got some issues (especially towards the end) but was a really good watch despite that.

[-] setsneedtofeed@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I've been rewatching The X-Files. I just finished the 'Tempus Fugit'/'Max' two parter. It is one of my favorite non-comedy episodes. It is wonderful in having a conspiracy within a conspiracy, intersecting character motivations, and dead serious stakes and presentation. It works as a mytharc, sequel to a stand alone episode, or just a stand alone story on its own depending on how you want to watch it.

The visuals are honestly haunting.

[-] GarboDog@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

We’re binge watching Naruto, it’s a good recommend

[-] reddig33@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Watching season 2 of the BBC adaptation of The Tripods from 1984. So far, not as goods as the first season. Also it’s not following the books very closely this season, so that’s probably why. Honestly surprised this hasn’t been remade yet.

[-] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

I haven’t coded in years.

I’m learning python because UDP polling in a shell script displeased me.

I was most familiar with C++ and I distrust all the handholding python does.

So to answer your question, myself losing my goddamn mind.

[-] Marshezezz 2 points 1 month ago

Got caught up on st denis, it’s still really funny

[-] CCMan1701A@startrek.website 2 points 1 month ago

Started Star trek starfleet academy. It's alright for a school based drama that takes place in the star trek universe. Watchable.
