Pop superstar Ariana Grande has helped raise more than $801,000 for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) as of January 2026, demonstrating the power of celebrity influence on humanitarian causes.

The milestone has also reignited debate online over the responsibility of public figures to use their platforms for activism, with past comments from Selena Gomez resurfacing in the discussion.

Grande first boosted the fundraiser in May 2024 by sharing a direct donation link on her Instagram story. Within minutes, PCRF reported a $40,000 surge in contributions.

Ariana Grande net worth: est $250,000,000.

$800,000 is .32% of that.

So, if you’re worth $100,000, that’s a relative $320.

I’d just like to put these impressive numbers into a more relatable context.

I feel like if I had that kind of money, I’d do a bit more, fwiw.

Yep, this is pathetic.

Oh, here, my fans can just... donate, yeah, but oh no I don't wanna hurt my bottom line, beyond maximizing my tax rebates.

She could probably sell her own shit in a bottle and make $800,000.

I'd buy that shit in a bottle for $800,001, what a sucker

... what a sucker.

Very poor choice of words.

What I do with the products I purchase is my business and every retailer on the planet apparently alone.

People with a net worth lower than $100,000 (including all assets) usually don't have $320 to donate without thinking about it.

Jokes on you, I'm worth -$200,000 and I don't even have a house.

[-] RichardDegenne@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago

Why don't you donate -720$ then, huh?

I'll add that to the money I get on my 1000% discount for medications this administration promised.

Kinda feels like most people today don’t have solid assets. At least in the 1st world west, many people have no hope to own tangible assets, and will rent all their most expensive things – home, vehicle, etc – and now most people’s assets are highly spongey, though they’re convinced otherwise.

It hurts, but almost none of us can hope to own property or anything solid like that. That’s why I refuse to relinquish my land, though literally everyone around me won’t stop hounding me to do it.

I get it. I can barely afford McDonald’s (I treat myself every few months), but I will not give up my land. Whatever. But I gave more than that to help stop genocide.

Better than someone like Leonardo DiCaprio who is building a $100 million dollar hotel in Israel.

But to be fair, the hotel will be eco-friendly, so that it makes it ok. /s

I’d say none of them are better. They’re all equally bad.

Is this also damage control for her Trump love fest?

[-] Fer24@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

Is this damage control?
