This makes no sense. The USA was created billions of years ago. God made the rest of the world 6000 years ago, so there would be places to bomb.

[-] affiliate@lemmy.world 51 points 1 year ago

he made the shark to witness it all

[-] Il_winters_lI@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago

Just as it says in the constitution.

[-] Daft_ish@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

You've no right to view the constitution. It holds secrets only those purified by righteousness may interpret. To quote the Justice Thomas, "I layeth mine pube at the alter of the aluminum can because I hath seen the divine."

[-] hydrospanner@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

A witness shark, because witness trees might get turned into freedom wood.

[-] Ilovethebomb@lemmy.ml 100 points 1 year ago

I always assume these people are trolling.

[-] NielsBohron@lemmy.world 45 points 1 year ago

I could've believed it if not for the reply. The reply simply makes it too over the top to be real.

[-] Ilovethebomb@lemmy.ml 28 points 1 year ago

Nah, I can definitely see someone doing that.

[-] Etterra@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

That thought occurred to me, but I've met people this stupid and it's like talking to potato salad.

[-] A7thStone@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

Naw man, sharks are smooth.

Kind of amazing how often people fall for obvious trolls. I pray to god none of the upvoters ever run across a con artist.

We have a tree in our village that's like double the age of the USA

[-] So_zetta_slowpoke@lemmy.world 42 points 1 year ago

4046 years is pretty old for a tree

[-] aBundleOfFerrets@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 year ago

The US has trees that significantly predate it, and is home to a tree that is assumed to be the oldest living organism on earth.

Just wait until someone crashes their brodozer into it and kills it

[-] h3mlocke@lemm.ee 8 points 1 year ago

Some scientists drilled into them and everyone got mad

"1776 would like to know your location"

[-] UnRelatedBurner@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 year ago

1492? what happened in 1776?

[-] activ8r@sh.itjust.works 25 points 1 year ago

The United States was founded? 4th July 1776.
Columbus reached the Americas in 1492, but it wasn't the US then. There was a whole revolution and everything.

[-] alekwithak@lemmy.world 33 points 1 year ago

To be even more pedantic, Columbus arrived in South America. He never saw any part of what would become the U.S.

Also we celebrate the birth of our nation on July 4th, the supposed anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, but it was actually signed over a period of several years and wasn't even the Country's first governing doctrine.

And just because it's a fun fact I like, Florida was a Spanish colony for longer than it's been a U.S. state.

[-] hydrospanner@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

And just because it's a fun fact I like, Florida was a Spanish colony for longer than it's been a U.S. state.

Is it still within the return period?

[-] Rozauhtuno 8 points 1 year ago

No refunds.

[-] activ8r@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 year ago

Those are some damn good historical facts right there.

  1. they're probably thinking of the north america landmass not the countries on it

  2. the earth was not created 2023 years ago

[-] Kyyrypyy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

The funny thing about the "earth is 2023 years old" -claim is that it comes from christianity, more speficly 0 A.D. Because "true christian doesn't believe in evolution", but what they fail to understand, is that the "year zero" (introduced 525 AD) in Julian calendar (later replaced by the gregorian calendar) is based on the (presumed) birth-year of Jesus, not on the "birth of the world", which is why the original prefixes of the calendar are "Before Christ" and "After Christ" (Anno Domomini). It baffles me that people who claim to be deep in christianity fail to grasp this distiction in recent years. Within the bible, there is a whole books worth of events that happened before "the big J".

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

That assumes that those people read their book. Or that they can fluently read for that matter.

  1. The shark is not a person; it's a shark
