I don’t know how to make PeerTube bigger, but I don’t see a better option for the Internet’s future than fediverse.
Only option I see in the foreseeable future is odyssee (a good sized but still not big youtube alt) gets wildly popular, gets a load of market shareholders, and worries enough about public image to kick the nazi punks off.
Or dailymotion dials back some of its restrictions. Either or
It is hard, video is the most data heavy type of social meda, so I think we should keep our expectations reasonable.
That being said, Peertube is already pretty damn cool. The foundations are there and it is really exciting.
One of the clear benefits to Peertube's architecture is how video content is naturally enhanced by being linked to from other other places (like lemmy). Peertube embraces that and for a lot of communities centered around video creators I think that cleanness and simplicity as a nexus point is going to start eventually making Peertube more attractive as a base way to link to a specific video even if most of their viewers actually watch it on youtube.
From there the path to becoming more widely used as a video platform I think is clear.
I totally agree! I run my own PeerTube instance and it has been so much fun to see people discovering my videos and live streams. And also finding funny/cool/interesting videos. Where no one is worried about engagement, the algorithm, monetization, etc.
remember ISRAEL paid google 45mil to shill pro-zionist propaganda on youtube with ads, and google recently is allowing israel to use its "state of the ART" AI services, and to evade other nations laws.
It's 2025, at this point people really need to understand that YouTube is not your friend and doesn't exist to further your cause.
It's a money making outfit not a means to social change. All of its incentives only allow it to try and make money at all costs.
At this point you need to host your own shit or suffer the whims of those who do.
I got shadowbanned by Reddit after nearly 20 years on the platform. No justification given. No response to appeal.
sounds like an AI did it, i think it happened to everyone beginning of FEB. plus there were also site wide banning people. at first they dint care about you having multiple accounts participating in the same sub, since they had off-the books rule of unbanning automatically after a certain amount of time. now with all those purges, the AI look for previous violations even the ones you were unbanned, they "shadowbanned". plus now they look any account that remotely "resembles botting/spamming and banning people" NEW AND old inactive accounts are very susceptible to be being ban without reason.
they also keep track of deleted accounts on your device too.
now they upted thier filtering, by unilaterally deleting any comment and post, without MOD noticing it, many reporting its to get it astroturfed by right wingers, im seeing that alot on reddit(i have a shadowbanned account too)

i was watching the "evolution" of reddits enshittification, they are defintely driving it towards AI-only content. they want people to just browse the site, and exposed to ads. plus allowing only propganda drama on it.
I agree, seems like some overzealous algorithm.
But a human could have responded to the appeal, taken a look and at least replied.
I'm guessing Israel is sending bogus copyright strikes over content that they dislike, taking advantage that YouTube is 100% run by bots with no way to contact a human supervisor

But Google went a step further and deleted his email, and won't respond to appeals. I get removing it from YouTube, but deleting his email proves they likely have bad intentions.
Would they complain if a israeli company deleted their videos? Same thing. Israel-interests = US-interests.

fuck google. they have been forcing me to degoogle everyday more and more for the last 5 years. they deleted my gmails and locked me forever repeatedly. I wish there was a reasonable priced phone to ditch android store as well. I have a big disgusting family that is draining me out every penny I could earn; I can't afford a $1000 phone for myself though it's been on my wishlist for over a year
You can’t post the videos Hamas records of their own deeds on YouTube either.
Youtube really isn't the place for these types of videos, no matter what side you are on. Gruesome videos of any sort is against their guidelines.
They belong on news websites, not some social media for entertainment.
Of course deleting their mailbox is a no go.
Pictures, Videos, Articles showing just how boring it is to live in a dystopic society, or with signs of a dystopic society.
