After vanilla bean and soy bean, what’s the third bean?

Edit: I feel stupid

Don't, many latte's are without coffee. Chai latte, matcha latta, usually don't contain coffee. I was confused too

If it makes you feel better, I asked the same question at first. Then felt stupid.

[-] judgyweevil@feddit.it 14 points 2 months ago

Tbf, if you ask this in an Italian bar you'll get vanilla flavored milk with soy milk, and a puzzled look from the barista

[-] Okokimup@lemmy.world 31 points 2 months ago

And clam chowder is just a savory latte with bugs in it.

[-] mobotsar@sh.itjust.works 23 points 2 months ago

Mm, luckily "vanilla beans" aren't actually beans. I think the people can handle the idea of a two-bean soup much better, don't you?

[-] ezterry@lemmy.zip 11 points 2 months ago

Coffee is also not a been.. So it's just soy been broth with coffee and vanilla.

[-] mobotsar@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

Pfft, clearly I was not reading carefully.

[-] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

Coffee is still fruit juice with too many steps

[-] billwashere@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Make it a mocha latte

[-] Krudler@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Coffee "beans" aren't beans either.

Coffee is technically tea, but then bay broth (a foundation for chicken soup) is also technically tea.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

I thought technically its only tea if it comes from a tea plant (otherwise its just a different hot water extract) but people will call everything prepared the same way (tea kettle and some kind of filter) a "tea" similar to how some people will call any kind of cola a "coke"

[-] uriel238 4 points 2 months ago

It's technically an infusion though I don't know if that changes between hot or cold water. But I think teas are arbitrarily determined: We decided that the black tea plants are teas and the weeds next to them are not based entirely on choice.

Coke is a specific trademark connected to specific recipes. But colas are all based on the cola bean, and some decent ones that get close to Coca-cola and Pepsi-cola.

[-] pebbles@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago

Black, green, oolong, white tea all come from the same plant. Its just processed differently. Everything that isnt from camellia sinensis isn't a "true tea".

[-] Gnugit@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

As a bean? Yes. As a seed pod to an orchid? Absolutely not, I love you to the end of the earth.

[-] kieron115@startrek.website 4 points 2 months ago

that's like 300 dollars worth of vanilla these days D=

[-] deepfriedchril@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

How does coffee become a bean? Sure we call it that but the coffee fruit is called a cherry and the "bean" is the pit.

[-] foodandart@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 months ago

[-] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 months ago

A very thin soup. How about 3 bean consommé?

[-] MissJinx@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Isn't vanilla an orchid?

[-] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago

Does that make an iced cappuccino a gazpacho?

[-] HulkSmashBurgers@reddthat.com 7 points 2 months ago

Nope two bean. Coffe "beans" are seeds.

How's everyone's Spooky Day going?

[-] SchmidtGenetics@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Would be more of a broth or a tea no? There’s no substance which a soup usually has.
