At one point, Newsom stressed that he had “only one godson, who is trans” in defending his conversation about trans rights with Kirk, adding that he “hope[s] people actually listen to the episode.”

Newsom also pushed back against criticism for having right-wing propagandists like Kirk and Steve Bannon on his podcast, decrying what he referred to as political “litmus tests” and saying “[y]ou don't have to listen to it.”

So Gavin should I be entertaining input from hateful fascists or not, I'm confused

“I can't tell you how many people have a similar point of view but don't say it publicly, and I think that's even more shameful in many respects than being held to account for your points of view,” Newsom said.
