Thank you Radical Left and what's left of the American checks and balances system for helping us resist the oppression of the Right for at least a little bit longer.

[-] verdantbanana@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

are talking about when walz resisted progress by teaming up with trump for oil pipelines?

or when Harris resisted discourse by inviting republicans to their democrat gala and gatekeeping the protestors outside?

was the resisting done when the democrats fought tooth and nail to keep Roe v. Wade from falling?

is the resisting you are referring to when obama resisted to help insurance companies from going under by mandating we all must get for profit insurance?

what resisting are you referring to?

I have you tagged as "DUMBASS." Good to see that's still true

[-] Scolding7300@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

You can nickname users?! How

[-] Fridgeratr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I'm using Boost on android and it has an option to give users a tag that shows up next to their name

[-] pupbiru@aussie.zone 4 points 1 week ago

it’s a feature in some apps like voyager

[-] Velypso@sh.itjust.works 23 points 1 week ago

Please stop fucking purity testing.

Any one of those people you listed would be leagues better than donald trump, and you know it.

[-] HopeOfTheGunblade 6 points 1 week ago

Anyone who ever ever done anything I dislike as much as coming closer to me in public than one meter, is exactly as bad as Donald Trump, and I can see no difference between them.

/s, obviously, although clearly where a sane line lies is not globally known.

[-] IronBird@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

while i understand where that comes from...hard not agree accelerationism is working.

the american people as a whole are...kind of dumb as shit (this being by design, our public education system meant specifically to make compliant factory workers), many will only learn through direct personal pain.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but wasnt it not till the great depression that the US has its first major surge in left-wing activism. maybe we just need a economic collapse so severe and widespread that it scars a generstion into thinking "maybe we do need to work together to survive", regardless of how some talking head on a screen tells them to feel about their neighbors

[-] Velypso@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The generation it will scar isn't in power.

Boomers are far too self-important to give it up.

[-] edible_funk@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I mean there's a few purity tests that are alright, like trans rights are human rights.

[-] FabledAepitaph@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

I'm talking about when they've done literally anything at all. Chill

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

checks and balances system

that shit is creaking LOUDLY. something's rattling inside. ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE FLASHING.

methinks the system is fucked

[-] luciferofastora@feddit.org 3 points 1 week ago

It's barely holding, but it's not entirely gone yet. Things are dire, but not yet lost.

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

You don’t think SCOTUS is lost yet? The shadow docket alone should show it is.

then, actually seperate from the other branches. a supreme court where the seats are chosen by the president and confirmed by a senate was never not going to be a political shit show.

expand scrotus by a couple seats, hard age-cap or set number years (20-30?) then have em do their own internal elections for replacement. with congress nominating (some) choices to choose from, there should also be a very strict exam to even be considered eligible for nomination (expand that out to all state/federal judges...why the fuck are any of them elected freely again? for fucks sake in like half the country you dont need any legal experience to be a judge...).

while we're at it, scrap this common law bullshit entirely for civil law. common law is literally just a english perversion of civil law, so some inbred english aristocrat's could hang onto power

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

it'd be a start.

[-] IronBird@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

this is sarcasm, right?

[-] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

as my grandfather used to say "mmmnn. don't fret, that rust will hold."

[-] edible_funk@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I mean, we've got proof you can ignore the Constitution without consequences. I'd say it needs scrapped and reworked from scratch.

[-] IronBird@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

it's fucking wild to me how people are still thinking this shit isnt going tits up as soon as trump croaks.

everyone is coping on a "return to normal" (read...unsustainable ratfucking") when he dies, but that is not coming...

...motherfuckers... they literally put out a statement saying they wouldnt leave power peacefully, when someone tells you who they are... believe them

[-] JennyLaFae 2 points 1 week ago

Things weren't better under the "normal" they want to return to, they we just less aware and less effected by the atrocities that have been ongoing.

[-] cron@feddit.org 48 points 1 week ago

Why does president Trump care more about his ball room than about ending the government shutdown?

[-] Prox@lemmy.world 34 points 1 week ago

Are you referring to the Epstein Ballroom?

[-] benderbeerman@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I've heard it called this all over, must be the Official Government™ name

[-] rainbowbunny@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 week ago

The throneroom

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 6 points 1 week ago

epstein file distraction. venuezla attacks, Ice at select cities, all are distraction.

[-] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 28 points 1 week ago

It's those DAMN DEMONRATS causing the Republican Controlled House Senate and Presidency to SHUT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT!

-Free Thinkers who Do Their Own Research TM!

[-] verdantbanana@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

democrats work with republicans all the time for whoever it is that owns the two parties

trump teamed up with harris vp pick walz during trumps first four years to stomp out protesters that included Native Americans and also included going back on treaties already been agreed on

[-] Blackmist@feddit.uk 21 points 1 week ago

I'm not convinced the "radical left" have a single elected representative...

[-] _stranger_@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

I'm not convinced the "radical left" would ever run for office

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

its anyone thats not a magat is a radical left, this includes RINOs.

[-] ShellMonkey@piefed.socdojo.com 13 points 1 week ago

Someone grab the edit logs for the web site and start putting together a case.

[-] Talaraine@fedia.io 10 points 1 week ago

You know the saying that if everyone in the world is an asshole, you might be the asshole? Well, if everyone who disagrees with you is a radical then....

[-] Shamber@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

If this government got any dumber, they should start wearing bibs to catch all the drool

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

trump drools from all the cocaine.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

[-] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

GOP shut down government based on their own GOP lie.

[-] Pondis@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I genuinely cant understand this shit. If I was the president I would be bending over backwards to help my countrymen and women get fed. Id be cooking for them myself. They dont even care about their own MAGATs going without.

America under Trump is third world.

[-] Waldelfe@feddit.org 2 points 1 week ago

Part of the problem is that you'd never become president with that attitude.
