Already back in 2019 the EU parliament overwhelmingly (410 votes to 192) voted in favor of stopping it but since then it has been stuck, probably due to covid, Ukraine and EU just being EU

AfaIk, it was delegated to the states to agree on a solution. Yet, no solution has been found as e.g. Spain wants to remain in the same time zone as France, but keeps fighting tooth and nail against permanent summer time.

I grew up im a country which follows daylight savings, having moved to a country which doesn't I can honestly say it's so much better not following it.

Scheduling a call with some friends across the Atlantic for today sucked

Also the clocks going back causes a spike in car crashes every year, but the scheduling thing is what's affecting me right now. I didn't even sleep well on the day with extra sleep

I don't get why so many people are adverse to this?

In the winter the clocks go back so it's light 'earlier' in the morning, spring they go forward so it's lighter for longer in the evening.

What's the big deal?

Because it makes the afternoons, when I want to be doing stuff, darker, and makes no difference to the mornings since I get to work before sunrise anyway, and we have lights for work ... ¿why do I have to sacrifice my winter afternoons?

And it gets worse the further north you go, by the time you're in Boston winter sunset is already before 5pm so if you work 8am-5pm without a nearby window you can easily go the whole day without seeing the sun.
