There are major differences in the stories they tell, with one being told from the heroine's perspective and the other from the villainess'. However, the later has far greater stakes and dramatic tension, with more weight given to the "queerness" of the relationship. Rei is only up against a stuck up tsundere, while Yvonne is up against a cruel system that forces her to play a role that she hates.

I only watched the anime... It's really hard for me to get into manga or light novels. I'm extremely sad there are so few yuri animes, and even more sad that the few there are only have a single season that doesn't finish the story ๐Ÿ˜ญ ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Yuri is almost inherently niche, much like queer fiction worldwide. For this reason, manga or light novels are kinda where it's at for yuri if you can get into it.

I also prefer the latter so far, but WataOshi does seem to get more interesting later on. Scanlations for that one seem to be pretty far behind, though (at least the ones Iโ€™ve been following).
