I suspect half of the bet is in firing programmers and vibe coding away, which is already working out super well - for "AI code cleanup" professionals
Just so I'm clear, this move entails:
Get a massive loan, use it to buy a company, take the money back from the company, saddle the company with the debt for it's own purchase, scrap it for parts and let it go bankrupt?
Considering it's EA, this might actually be a good thing for the world.
i just uninstalled all EA games and the app. its not a safe product to use under the control of the new owners it seems.
If the recent examples of Google and Microsoft are any indication, they're going to lay people off and just stop doing QA. Everything I use from Google and Microsoft has been buggy as hell of late.
My last remaining spark of hope for a Mass Effect game that isn't completely fucked just died. Let's hope that Exodus will scratch that itch for me...
Not only hope for future games. We might very well lose the old games, when they inevitably go bankrupt and close the EA Launcher along with our libraries there.
