95% sure is trolling. Yet, I'm also 100% sure a lot of those buffoons will not notice.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 43 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Not many smart people left on the sub. Just yes-men.

They've done so many purges in /r/conservative that it's basically communism

[-] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

I really don't think there were many smart conservative redditors to begin with.

[-] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 70 points 3 weeks ago

Concerned-antocommie is such a troll alt username

[-] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 55 points 3 weeks ago

It was:

I did the math

Followed by a logical conclusion that sold this as trolling to me

[-] harmbugler@piefed.social 29 points 3 weeks ago

My thoughts as well, surely there's no way.

But... America.

[-] Balaquina@lemmy.ca 32 points 3 weeks ago

It's true, but I feel like the dumb ones wouldn't have bothered to read Animal Farm.

It was going great until "I've come to the conclusion..." Gave the whole game away.

The post is satire/trolling.

I was interested, so I found the original post, and the mods there removed all the comments, so you can't see the people falling for it.

[-] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 98 points 3 weeks ago

Boy, conservatives sure love their free speech.

[-] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 43 points 3 weeks ago

They really do. Some speech is more free than others.

[-] fort_burp@feddit.nl 19 points 3 weeks ago

This is suspiciously close to the famous "some are more equal than others" from my favorite book, .

I got banned from there years ago for asking a question in a comment.

[-] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 weeks ago

well that's your first mistake. Only communists question stuff.

Gonna start calling landlords "socialists", see what happens

We should troll them like this a LOT more.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

The problem is that their ability to ignore obvious contradictions is so immense they sometimes embrace it unironically.

This guy/gal's got the right idea. Turns out conservatives agree with a lot of leftist ideas when you don't use their Boogeyman trigger words.

[-] yucandu@lemmy.world 41 points 3 weeks ago

I've been saying that for decades but a lot of marxists are more into the aesthetics of marxism than the actual goals.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 13 points 3 weeks ago

marxists are more into the aesthetics of marxism

Sort of a selection bias.

"The only Marxists I ever see are the ones advertising themselves" implies you might not be looking very hard

[-] Almacca@aussie.zone 12 points 3 weeks ago

More into Groucho than Karl?

Then again, Groucho did say something like 'I would never want to join a club that would admit me as a member.', so perhaps not.

I wish I could see how many of those mouthbreathers actually took this bait.

[-] IzzyJ@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago

I did and I'm not even conservative, just autistic

would have been better to not use the word "unify". too transparent.

[-] antonim@lemmy.dbzer0.com 61 points 3 weeks ago

Even 'labor' is a bit of a giveaway, IMO. Still funny tho

No right winger would think that. They like their hierarchies, their classes of people, and some being worth more than others so there is someone to punch down.

[-] tempest@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 weeks ago

Just so long as they are at least one level up. It is why they like to demonize non whites because it's easy and let's the rubes be content to sit at the bottom.

This has to be a troll but I'll be damned if r/conservative isn't dumb enough to bite

[-] Evil_Shrubbery@thelemmy.club 38 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Missing nsfw tag for memetic agent with acute physiological aneurism vector.

Nevertheless, excellent shitpost.
Capitalist's workers should rally behind such a great example.

[-] qarbone@lemmy.world 34 points 3 weeks ago

Way too many comments from people taking this at face value. This is almost formulaic bait.

This is the way you troll right-wingers.

This is really bad for conservative marxist bait ngl

[-] madjo@feddit.nl 20 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

~~Dude definitely never understood Animal Farm.~~

And I missed the satire in this. OP knew what he was doing.

[-] squaresinger@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

The difference between communism and capitalism is who gets the money without working.

[-] Zacryon@feddit.org 12 points 3 weeks ago

When I start my start-up, at some point fucking everyone will get paid the same in proportion to overall company performance. From the cleaning staff to the highest level management fuckers. Because each and everyone is responsible for and contributes to the company's success.

This can work.

Lefty Memes

6107 readers
370 users here now

An international (English speaking) socialist Lemmy community free of the "ML" influence of instances like lemmy.ml and lemmygrad. This is a place for undogmatic shitposting and memes from a progressive, anti-capitalist and truly anti-imperialist perspective, regardless of specific ideology.

Serious posts, news, and discussion go in c/Socialism.

If you are new to socialism, you can ask questions and find resources over on c/Socialism101.

Please don't forget to help keep this community clean by reporting rule violations, updooting good contributions and downdooting those of low-quality!

Rules

Version without spoilers

0. Only post socialist memes

That refers to funny image macros and means that generally videos and screenshots are not allowed. Exceptions include explicitly humorous and short videos, as well as (social media) screenshots depicting a funny situation, joke, or joke picture relating to socialist movements, theory, societal issues, or political opponents. Examples would be the classic case of humorous Tumblr or Twitter posts/threads. (and no, agitprop text does not count as a meme)

0.5 [Provisional Rule] Use alt text or image descriptions to allow greater accessibility

(Please take a look at our wiki page for the guidelines on how to actually write alternative text!)

We require alternative text (from now referred to as "alt text") to be added to all posts/comments containing media, such as images, animated GIFs, videos, audio files, and custom emojis.
EDIT: For files you share in the comments, a simple summary should be enough if they’re too complex.

We are committed to social equity and to reducing barriers of entry, including (digital) communication and culture. It takes each of us only a few moments to make a whole world of content (more) accessible to a bunch of folks.

When alt text is absent, a reminder will be issued. If you don't add the missing alt text within 48 hours, the post will be removed. No hard feelings.

0.5.1 Style tip about abbreviations and short forms

When writing stuff like "lol" and "iirc", it's a good idea to try and replace those with their all caps counterpart

  • ofc => OFC
  • af = AF
  • ok => OK
  • lol => LOL
  • bc => BC
  • bs => BS
  • iirc => IIRC
  • cia => CIA
  • nato => Nato (you don't spell it when talking, right?)
  • usa => USA
  • prc => PRC
  • etc.

Why? Because otherwise (AFAIK), screen readers will try to read them out as actually words instead of spelling them

1. Socialist Unity in the form of mutual respect and good faith interactions is enforced here

Try to keep an open mind, other schools of thought may offer points of view and analyses you haven't considered yet. Also: This is not a place for the Idealism vs. Materialism or rather Anarchism vs. Marxism debate(s), for that please visit c/AnarchismVsMarxism.

2. Anti-Imperialism means recognizing capitalist states like Russia and China as such

That means condemning (their) imperialism, even if it is of the "anti-USA" flavor.

3. No liberalism, (right-wing) revisionism or reactionaries.

That includes so called: Social Democracy, Democratic Socialism, Dengism, Market Socialism, Patriotic Socialism, National Bolshevism, Anarcho-Capitalism etc. . Anti-Socialist people and content have no place here, as well as the variety of "Marxist"-"Leninists" seen on lemmygrad and more specifically GenZedong (actual ML's are welcome as long as they agree to the rules and don't just copy paste/larp about stuff from a hundred years ago).

4. No Bigotry.

The only dangerous minority is the rich.

5. Don't demonize previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.

We must constructively learn from their mistakes, while acknowledging their achievements and recognizing when they have strayed away from socialist principles.

(if you are reading the rules to apply for modding this community, mention "Mantic Minotaur" when answering question 2)

6. Don't irrationally idolize/glorify previous and current socialist experiments or (leading) individuals.

Notable achievements in all spheres of society were made by various socialist/people's/democratic republics around the world. Mistakes, however, were made as well: bureaucratic castes of parasitic elites - as well as reactionary cults of personality - were established, many things were mismanaged and prejudice and bigotry sometimes replaced internationalism and progressiveness.
