"Blue no matter who" UNLESS they're even slightly against the status quo... Complicit traitors.

The Democratic Party has been engaging in a long data-driven campaign to chase a group of "centrists" that a bunch of analytics told them they need to win over in order to be in power.

The problem is that the data is bullshit and the hypotheses and conclusions modelled with it are also bullshit, and it's led to where we are now - a party that defines itself entirely based on what it thinks a small group of people who are currently happy voting for fascists want, propped up by votescolds who insist that the Left owe Dems their vote no matter what their policies.

Of course they won’t. Democrats aren’t left, they’re just left of Republicans. democrats are basically republican lite* (tm).

I'm every other country liberal means basically that. the USA is walking up to what liberal actually means in a party. They aren't left, they are center right, mildly different from Republicans.

The left needs to get it's shit together, stop infighting, and get organized. Now it's the time to strike. Democratic socialists seem to be your best chance right now, who the fuck cares of they aren't anarchist enough for you, rally behind them, get them in power and then work to move further left. Use what power you have, don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good

What happened to people in government representing what the people want? That's what they are supposed to do!

[-] TheAlbatross 11 points 4 weeks ago

When was that going on? I can't remember that happening.

Somewhat prior to Citizens United. At least politicians pretended to https://supreme.justia.com/cases/federal/us/558/310/

This is simply what politics looks like once the electorate starts asking the politicians to put aside their mega donors and line up with the will of the people instead of the people lining up to the will of the media, tldr; the mask is off.

Ratfuckers all of them

[-] Blackfeathr@lemmy.world 17 points 4 weeks ago

Top Dems' billionaire sugar daddies won't allow it. They are all complicit in the clusterfuck we're in now.

[-] Captainvaqina@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 weeks ago

Complicit? They designed it.

What really gets me is someone thinks Trump backing Cuomo will help him win!

I also fear that if Mamdani wins, members of both parties will stonewall his efforts to make him as ineffective as they can. I hope it backfires on them, but I don’t have much faith in the memory of the average voter.

Expect at least a few last minute endorsements to try to save face. Take those in the spirit they are given.

This is where the people can show how much power they have over rich influential "leaders" of political parties. Cut through all of their marketing bullshit and misinformation that they spend millions of dollars on. The people of NYC are doing great!

[-] Runaway@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 weeks ago

Of course. It would require them to actually be on the people's side.

I heard that it may have something to do with his refusal to support Democrats over DSA candidates in other elections.
