TIL canned spaghetti is a thing 😭😭

[-] aeternum 5 points 3 days ago

Sure is. And it’s delish.

can be a live saver if you feel too down to even cook spaghetti or order food. one can even eat them cold directly out of the can, even tho it's not recommended.

Deconstructed Ravioli.

That was the go-to meal from a can as a poor student, back in the days when Instant-Ramen was just an idea.

Spaghetti in a can, spaghetti in a bag. Spaghetti in a box? All are welcome here.

I'd respond, but there's a "no pasta-shaming" rule.

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 6 points 3 days ago

Constructive pasta criticism is allowed 😎

I think my position on the subject of canned spaghetti was effectively conveyed, but thx nonetheless. 🤪

SpaghettiOs with meatballs are a nostalgic favorite of mine. I always keep about a half dozen cans in the pantry, for those days when I'm tired and just don't want to cook anything.

I always eat them cold from the can, too. They taste better than if you reheated them in the microwave. I dunno why. I guess I'm a monster.

SpaghettiOs

For some reason I read this as SpaghettiOS I thought I had found a new Linux distro to try

I spelled it as "Spaghetti-O's" at first, but that didn't look right, so I looked it up. Turns out, there are no punctuation marks in the official brand name, just letters. That feels like a weird Mandela Effect; I swore there was always a dash and apostrophe in there.

Is it just me or do they taste different than when we were kids?

I picked some up the other day for a nostalgia ride and it just didn't quite hit like I expected.

As a child, the first time I tried Libby's Alpha-getti, with its 'sweet' sauce vs what I was accustomed to, was an epiphany.
The rest of my life has still been shite, tho'...

We aren't going to be able to feasibly do deep space exploration without it, our ticket to alien contact is a spaghetti can and somebody with real vision. For that alone canlovers earn their place.

[-] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago

It is merely a vessel for the spaghettis

[-] morgunkorn@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

i mean sure, you do you ^^

but if you have the opportunity to make good al dente spaghetti you might enjoy them too! try with olive oil, sliced garlic cloves and pepper, it's amazing

[-] aeternum 5 points 3 days ago

Oh, I’ve had real spag before. Canned spaghetti is just easier

[-] morgunkorn@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 days ago

fair, it's quite the quick meal :)

[-] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Sure! I generally prefer the real stuff but every once in a while I get the canned stuff when I'm feeling nostalgic

[-] aeternum 7 points 3 days ago

I like canned spaghetti toasties :3

[-] miss_demeanour@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago
