The Democratic National Committee on Tuesday voted down a resolution calling for a suspension of military aid to Israel in the midst of a famine in Gaza that is a direct result of Israel's near-total blockade on humanitarian aid.

Margaret DeReus, the executive director of IMEU Policy Project, was scathing in her denunciation of the DNC for voting down the resolution and directly called out the influence of pro-Israel groups that have spent millions to defeat progressives like former Rep. Cori Bush (D-Mo.), one of the first Democratic lawmakers to demand a ceasefire after Israel began its assault on Gaza in 2023.

Organizer Asra Nizami noted that "members acknowledged getting hundreds of calls and emails" about supporting the resolution, but voted it down nonetheless.

"This party keeps digging its own grave. And it's owned by AIPAC," said Nizami, referring to the pro-Israel American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which donated more than $24 million to Democratic candidates in 2024.

Fuck the DNC. Fuck Gavin Newsom.

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 94 points 2 days ago

It's like they want to lose the mid terms.

[-] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

I'm worried it's worse. I'm worried they truly don't care. If they lose then it's def not their fault it's your fault and if they lose will they tried sorry biting else we can.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

AIPAC does prefer trump, so the dems purposely throwing the election wouldnt surprise me one bit.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Listen, we can't just both sides this. You're either with the Democrats or you're having sex with Vladimir Putin. Do you want to be called a traitor by a guy on the Internet? Then quit repeating this far left America hating propaganda and VOTE

[-] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 day ago

It's weird people didn't get the sarcasm dripping from this.

[-] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

This stuff was said unironically a few months ago so it is hard to detect.

In any case the current crop of DNC Democrats are showing that they refuse to abandon their donors (which are Republicans) even if it means another GOP win. They will do anything to prevent the left from winning.

[-] nialv7@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

I remember seeing opinions like yours being super popular here pre-election. Really happy seeing the tides changing.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

I remember saying I wasn't voting for Harris on account of the genocide, and I got bombarded with "You are literally murdering the Palestinians with your bare hands by saying this" replies.

[-] tburkhol@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago

I mean, if I have to choose between a genocidal neoliberal and a genocidal fascist, I'll take the neoliberal.

What I really want to know is why can't we have a party with popular, mainstream, progressive policies? Just sitting here hoping that Mamdani can hammer some sense into those morons.

[-] Deceptichum@quokk.au 20 points 1 day ago

What I really want to know is why can't we have a party with popular, mainstream, progressive policies?

Because you keep critically supporting neoliberals in place of the left.

[-] tankfox@midwest.social 8 points 1 day ago

The turds already inside the DNC forcefully eject anyone with a chance of being liberal. By the time I have a voice my choices are curated into irrelevancy.

[-] tburkhol@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

So, the same reason I have a dog and not a unicorn.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

no, its the reason that dog hates you and gives you that disappointed look that lets you know that he thinks you're an idiot.

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

What I really want to know is why can’t we have a party with popular, mainstream, progressive policies?

Populism isn't electable.

Just sitting here hoping that Mamdani can hammer some sense into those morons.

Obviously, this was a fluke. It's just a Dem primary so it doesn't count. NYC is different, you don't understand. Iran rigged the election. .

[-] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago

It's my fault for wanting the Democratic candidate to win , but also pointing out that she wouldn't be doing so if she didn't come out in opposition Israel. That means it's my fault the greens got 1/10th of a percent of votes and 6 million Democrats didn't show up (who I guess, should have just voted Green last election, since Democrats weren't going to pivot to a winning position anyways. at least then they'd be an opposition party for 2026/ 28)

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 day ago

DNC is are colluding with the guy having sex with Putin while resisting the DSA who don't think that's a great idea.

But sure, the left is crazy. Have fun with the Trump-Cuomo alliance.

[-] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

And you better get used to it because it’s clearly never going to change, ya filthy hippies

[-] ceenote@lemmy.world 55 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

8 percent of Democrat voters approve of Israel's actions in Gaza. 8 fucking percent. 4 points off rounding to 0. And these pieces of garbage are going to go on TV and talk about how Donald Trump is undermining democracy.

[-] meco03211@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

But that 8 percent make up some of the wealthy decision makers that stand to lose a fortune of they don't vomit their support.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

Fat less than 1% hold all the wealth and power. That means this is (far more than) 8 times the number they need.

[-] SapphironZA@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 day ago

Vote blue no matter who, because as bad as the DNC is, the GOP is much worse.

But Primary these DNC bastards every chance you get!

[-] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If they ratfuck their way to a general election, they can get fucked. They have sided with republicans by blocking the only viable alternative.

[-] SapphironZA@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

The problem is even when they lose in the general election, the DNC still looks after them.

Better to have the DNC ratfucker you can remove later, than the GOP pedophile you have no control over.

[-] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

What control over the DNC do we have? They’ve ignored the will of the people and pushed AIPAC’s agenda for literally my entire life. When will this magical accountability somehow happen?

[-] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 42 points 2 days ago

Remember to VOTE BLUE No Matter WHO (UNLESS the DNC DOESNT LIKE who Wins then Vote INDEPENDENT No Matter Who!)!

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Vote Like A Butterfly, Sting Like When I Pee

Tell me that's not real. I'm cringing into 2 fewer dimensions as I type this.

[-] airbreather@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Tell me that's not real. I'm cringing into 2 fewer dimensions as I type this.

Sigh. It looks real to me.

Where the fuck is @givesomefucks to tell us all about the new DNC

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

He gives Ken Martin two hot stone massages per day, and those take time to do right. You have to queue up the enya music clips to just the right spots, for starters. The lube needs to be warmed to precise body temperature. People just dont realize how much time it all takes. People suck.

[-] LoafedBurrito@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago

This is such a weird hill for the DNC to die on. Without our money and weapons, they will struggle.

[-] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 32 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The military-industrial complex was coined by a Republican president in his farewell address, warning about how the political landscape can be bought and sold to the rich.

This was before the party swap and the southern strategy, but it's wild that a Republican in the 50s had more of a backbone against the interests of the rich than modern politicians.

DNC has been dead to me for a while now. This doesn’t shock me, but it does disappoint me.

[-] devolution@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

The right campaigned on abortion.

The left campaigned on Gaza.

The right votes.

The left pontificates.

I wonder who keeps winning.

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 day ago

The one which has a political party representing them.
